Welcome to a New Generation of Hanoverians The HHSA has enjoyed another very successful Annual Hanoverian/Rhineland National Tour. 2017 saw a truly international panel of classifiers with Dr Ludwig Christmann, head of “Breeding Abroad” for the Hannoveraner Verband Germany, joined by Inga Hamilton from Canada and Kevin Lewis from Australia. Hanoverian and Rhineland foals were presented at various inspection points around Australia for registration, branding, assessment and breeder education. The parentage of all foals registered with the HHSA is verified by DNA typing. The hair sample required from each foal for DNA testing is taken on the day of the tour. Parentage verification is required prior to a foal being eligible to receive their international passport and Universal Equine Life Number (UELN) created from the database of the Hannoveraner Verband in Germany. Each foal was presented in-hand for an evaluation of their conformation, as well as being shown free beside their dam for an assessment of their gaits. During the tour the classifiers present gold and silver ribbons as immediate recognition of breeding excellence and at the conclusion of the tour the “Top 10 Foals On Tour” and the “Australian Champion Foal” are awarded. Owners and breeders of foals who receive these awards can feel extremely proud! The following foal pictorial is an insight into the 2017 HHSA foal registration and assessment tour.
