An Interim Word
Of the Bible, it was President Abraham Lincoln who once said, “All the good from the Saviour of the world is communi-cated through this Book. All the things desirable to man are contained in it.”
I believe and know that Lincoln’s words are true. It is wise, sometimes, that we ask ourselves, “What would we be, and where would we be in life, without the Bible?” Even more sobering than merely asking ourselves that question might be to spend a few seconds imagining the frightful reality of having no Bible, no Savior, no hope or even a thought of heaven, and having to live our lives that way.
But the oppressive shades of such darkness can be lifted, and our lives be infused with a Light that is brighter than the morning sun, when we remember that not only is God’s love real, but it is a possession “spread abroad in our hearts” (Rom. 5:5), as we realize that our Jesus gives both depth and meaning to this life, as well as the promise of eternal life.
Jesus ever seeks to also give direction to the church, through the imparting of His own character to us, through the movements of the Holy Spirit, which He has sent. There-fore, I again urge each of you, as I did last Sunday, to open your Bible for a reading and absorption of the truths of Je-sus’ Sermon on the Mount. Matthew, chapters 5-7 invite a revolution of the soul for us all. Read Jesus’ word to you today! And note His radiant transformation to daily take hold of your walk and ways.
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.”
Coming soon! – The Garden of Prayer returns, March 9, 10, and 11.
Blessings, Dr. Kenneth Jordan Interim Pastor
Mark’s Madness
It is hard to believe that I am writing March’s newsletter and that means that the Youth Evangelism Conference is just a few weeks away. I will be having a parent meeting on Sun-day, March 5, after the morning worship service to go over any questions about the conference. We will be leaving Friday, March 10 at 3:15 pm and will be returning on Sat., March 14. The Youth Evangelism Conference will be held at Nashville’s Municipal Auditorium. The cost of the confer-ence is $40 dollars, plus 3 meals. Please mark these other dates on your calendar: June 26 – June 30, MFuge.
As I end March’s newsletter, I would like to leave you with the total amount funds that were raised from the Speedway in Lights. Drum – roll please, from the Speedway $3,100. This was the third highest amount of funds that we raised for our youth program. Awesome! Thank you again to all who participated in to help raise funds for our teens. Each one YOU did an awesome job. This would not have been possible without YOU.
Running the Race, Mark Heb. 12:1-3
Preschool Little Bits
“Simple Truth” is the theme for this year’s Preschool Work-er’s Appreciation Dinner (Mar 13). A lot of thought was given to this as we prepared for this year’s celebration. The Simple Truth is: “God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but, have everlasting life.” (John 3:16). This truth changes lives. We celebrate as we’ve seen children who have been our preschoolers come to faith in Jesus. This year we saw two baptisms of our former preschoolers.
Over time, there’s been many of our little ones grow and give their hearts to Jesus. Teachers from way back have taken pictures that we used to make a unique slideshow for this year. There’s been a lot of love, a lot of good teaching moments, and a lot of laughter in those rooms through the years! This slideshow tells it all.
So this thought brings us to the verse for this year’s dinner: “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth” III John 1:4. This is the heart of preschool.
