The MBASYC&O seeks to assemble Christ-like young people and adult

leaders to

Worship and lead in worship of Almighty God

Grow spiritually and musically

Experience and present different styles of Christian musical literature

Establish a statewide network of Christian peers and mentors

Acquaint participants with churches, educational institutions, confer-

ences and other missions of the Southern Baptist Convention

Help bring Mississippi and the world to Jesus

Audition interviews for the MBASYC&O are held each September

through November in several locations around Mississippi. Students

in grades 9 through 12 who are active members of music minis-

tries in Southern Baptist churches are eligible to audition. Both

vocal and instrumental auditions are given at each location.

The Mississippi Baptist All-State Youth Choir and Orchestra

(MBASYC&O) began in 1991 with a God-given vision in the hearts of,

Graham Smith, director, and Susan Clark Luttrell, youth music/drama con-

sultant for the Church Music Department of the Mississippi Baptist Conven-

tion Board, to musically and spiritually strengthen Mississippi Southern

Baptist high school students. The choir has grown from 40 members in 1993

to 118 singers. These young people share their love for Christ throughout

the state and across the country. Ninth through twelfth grade students audi-

tion and interview each fall for positions with the choir and orchestra. Those

who are selected attend a three-day rehearsal camp and a six-day concert

tour the following summer.

HONOR CHOIR REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS

AND INFORMATION

Now that you are an accepted choir member for the 2017 Honor Choir Weekend, what should you do? 1. Register online at www.mbcb.org. Click on Ministries and from the dropdown menu, choose Church Music. On the left side, choose Mississippi Baptist Young Mu-sicians Honor Choir. Look for: To Register for Honor Choir Weekend CLICK HERE. This is a registration link that will go directly to the Event Home Page where the Registration Tab is at the bottom. Follow the prompts and answer the questions. You will need to click on Add a Registrant to begin. YOU CAN ALSO PAY YOUR $70 here. The sooner you register, the sooner you can receive your music. 2. Print out your 2017 Worship Arts Selection Form. Make your choices as indicated and bring this to the first rehearsal in your area. This information may also be emailed to [email protected]. Keep a record of your choices. 3. Your choir director/minister of music will have the forms that are needed for you to complete should you not be able to go online or wish not to pay online. Please re-turn these either by mail to WYNDY SOUTH, P O BOX 530, Jackson MS 39205-0530 or bring them to the first Honor Choir Rehearsal in your area. 4. Participate in an area rehearsal. Your directors will have this information and it will be on a label on the front of your music packet. KEEP UP WITH YOUR MUSIC. You will need it for the worship arts for the weekend and for rehearsals. MUSIC MUST BE MEMORIZED for the weekend concert and the worship on Sunday.
