EDITION 2

OPEN DAY

NIS recently held our annual Open Day. It was a terrific day, with no signs of the inclement weather, which plagued us earlier in the week. The aim of the day was for children to showcase their talents and have fun. The pictures below show some of the highlights of the day.

EVERYONE HAD FUN!

NIS ARTIST

Abdullah Hamood {G10 boys} is an artist with a great deal of talent. He has completed a number of paintings, which are now exhibited in the NIS Boys’ Section. He should be very proud of these paintings. Here are some close-ups of his work.

This is a terrific standard of work

and we wish to see more of

Abdullah’s work as he develops his

skill and confidence.

MR. MARK’S MATHS CHALLENGE!!!

There are two ropes that both take exactly 1 hour to burn from end to

end. You are unable to cut the rope. How can you burn the two ropes in a total of 45 minutes?

CHAMPIONS’ LEAGUE FINAL!!!

On Thursday 8th March the final of this year’s senior tournament took place. This was a fiercely contested match between Liverpool and Real Madrid. During normal time both teams had chances, but failed to find the back of the net. This meant that the game had to be decided on penalties, with Liverpool being the victorious team.

The teams competed, along with others who failed to make the final, for the trophies below.

Throughout the tournament the teachers and referees have been keeping a close eye out for the ‘Player of the Tournament’. For his many outstanding displays for Ream Madrid, this year’s winner was Ahmad Wajeeh. His performances and goals were perhaps the main reason behind Real Madrid’s ascendancy to the final of this year’s competition. Well done Ahmad.

FRACTIONS IN MATHS

The boys of 3BB had fun figuring out how to divide 4 apples between 16 students in class this week. They solved the problem using fractions and dividing the apples into 4 equal pieces. The objective of the lesson was to introduce groups and equal parts in fractions. The students had to use their creative and critical thinking skills as well as collaboration and communication to ensure that everyone in the group got the same share of the apple.

was tricked by my uncle, into thinking I caused my father's death. My friends sing a famous song which translates to

“No Worries”……”

You should write the name of the person, your name and class on a piece of paper and place it in the box outside Mr. Tony’s Office. The winners will be drawn from the box each week and will be in the newsletter. As a prize, each winner will be given FOUR MERITS FROM Mr. Tony.

Only one answer per student will be accepted. It must be written by the student, not the parent! Bonus merits may be awarded to children who create ‘special answer sheets – such as a poster’. The poster must be

KG2 PHONICS

The KG2 students were using a memory matching game to help them practice their first alternative sound. This activity helped the students to develop their communication and collaboration skills as they were working with a partner. The students were able to play the game with different partners. This was a lot of fun and it didn’t even feel like learning! What a great learning day in KG2!

ELC ASSEMBLY

ELC department have their weekly assembly with the students of Kg 1 and Kg 2. During assembly the students received their merit certificate and star of the week certificates from the ELC coordinator. Also, they get the chance to know the important announcement and news from the school about the events and activities of the school. Here are some photos of our ELC assembly.
