2017-2018 DONOR HONOR ROLLThis report highlights how your giving impacts ASD and celebrates our many donors and contributors.

THANK YOU TO ALL THE PARENTS, FACULTY AND STAFF, FRIENDS, CORPORATIONS, BUSINESSES, AND ALUMNI FOR MAKING A DIFFERENCE THROUGH GIVING.

Dear ASD Community,

The culture of philanthropy is alive and well at ASD. Parents, faculty, and staff give valuable time every day both in and outside the classroom—volunteering with parent groups and supporting our students and extracurriculars. Contribution is a student profile objective and compassion, one of our core values, is woven into the fabric of our school.

In its second year, the Annual Giving program reached new levels. Participation went up and, therefore, impact increased. This Donor Honor Roll report is a celebration of all those who made a gift—your contributions are now supporting programs and enhancing the learning opportunities of every student at ASD. Thank you to Julia Martinez, our previous Director of Advancement, for her leadership.

Why have an Annual Giving program? The simple answer is that additional resources allow ASD to sustain, enhance, and continue to invest in exemplary programs. Annual Giving programs are best practices at the top international schools, providing an opportunity for families to make a difference in a community they care for and love. At ASD, the entirety of tuition funds the cost of education. Our Annual Giving program provides additional learning opportunities beyond what tuition can provide.

In 2018-2019, our Annual Giving campaign will be spearheaded by our new Director of Advancement, Michele Wray Khateri.

Thank you to all who are considering a gift this school year. I look forward to celebrating the impact to our students and community.

Sincerely,

Dr. Paul RichardsSuperintendent

Making a gift to ASD can always be made anonymously. We celebrate all gifts, honor donor wishes, and acknowledge every donor through this report.

Giving ensures that outstanding

programs continue, providing additional

learning opportunities for students beyond

what tuition provides. People give because of

pride in our community, to honor those who

came before us, to ensure that the best

education is available to our children, and for the

simple joy giving brings to a family. Each reason

is celebrated; each gift valued. Whatever your

reason for giving - thank you!

Volunteers at ASD truly make a difference. In the second year of the ASD Annual Giving program, a new volunteer program was introduced: the Annual Giving Parent Ambassadors and Annual Giving Faculty and Staff Ambassadors. The volunteers met throughout the year with Dr. Richards, board members, and Advancement to learn about the program and its importance to ASD, the impact of giving and how together, we can do more for our school and students.

Special thanks to these ASD parents, faculty, and staff members who dedicated time and energy to educate, encourage and inspire our community on the opportunity to give. The Annual Giving Ambassador program will continue to grow and thrive. If you are interested in becoming an Ambassador, please contact Michele Wray Khateri, Director of Advancement, [email protected].

A STARRY NIGHT AT THE MUSIC HALL

ASD has a treasured history, valued reputation, and is one of the few not for profit schools in Dubai. As a not-for-profit school, ASD accepts donations as additional resources to extend, enrich, and enhance student learning opportunities.

The best independent schools in the world share qualities of a mission-centered focus, strong leadership, extraordinary programs, well-maintained and equipped facilities, an engaged constituency, and a well-developed financial base—to include opportunities to give.

In order to fulfill the mission of the American School of Dubai, ASD offers opportunities to make a difference through giving. Parents, alumni, parents of alumni, faculty and staff, organizations, and friends are all invited to participate.

Making a gift to ASD is one way to raise your hand and say, “ASD is important to our family.” Giving is important because it reflects our spirit of shared experiences and mutual encouragement, enhances learning, and provides for excellence beyond what tuition can provide.

With deep gratitude, ASD recognizes the contributions of all who supported the school last year to make these projects possible.
