50 LOTS OF PREMIUM REGISTERED ANGUS GENETICSPregnancies • Frozen Embryos • Pairs • Bred Cows • Bred Heifers • Open Heifers

Angus Breeders:

Any consignment sale is only as good as the breeders who choose to support it as consignors and our consignors are the “BEST”. If you have any doubt about that fact, just study the females offered in this catalog. Sale features can be found throughout the offering.

2 Bar Mile High 9360 now has over $600,000 in progeny sales. We lead off the 2016 Spring Spectacular with a 9360 preg-nancy sired by the wildly popular Basin Payweight 1682 and follow that with embryos out of two 9360 daughters and a pregnancy out of her full sister. Add a pregnancy out of a daughter of 6108 and you’re off to a really strong start. Pay special attention to the bred heifers which offer loads of power and style and 9 females in the top 1% for $B, highlighted the $217/$B heifer from Double Creek. The bred heifers carry the service of Journey, Generation, Stud, Rampage, Index, Discovery and other leading AI sires. We round out the offering with an outstanding set of bred cows and a group of herd building open heifers. If you are looking for genetics that will carry you to the next level, you will certainly find what you are looking for on Saturday, May 7th.

If you will be in town on Friday evening, we plan to have a dutch-treat gathering somewhere in the Salado/Temple area. Contact me at 903-571-7950 if you need further information on this gathering of Angus breeders or if you have any questions regarding the sale offering.

See you in Salado.

The ORIgen difference...ORIgen was created by breeders, for breeders to give them a market for their genetics unlike any other system in the industry. The “BREEDER TO BREEDER” concept was built on the vision of bridging the gap between bull owners and the marketplace to give breeders direct access to the market and unlimited networking opportunities for their genetics among other breeders. This service connects bull owners to the beef industry where they can have a higher percentage of return and access to the largest semen sales network in the business while retaining control of their marketing strategy.

ORIgen has a STATE-OF-THE ART CUSTOM SEMEN COLLECTION FACILITY that is designed for the ultimate care and handling of beef bulls. Bull care is our number one priority; we follow stringent biosecurity protocol to protect the health of each individual animal. ORIgen takes pride in its expansive facility, which has four on-site barns, each with its own indoor collection arena and lab. Surrounding the barns are long bull runs designed for easy ow, low-stress handling, exercise promotion and protection from the elements. Bulls collected at ORIgen also have the advantage of being viewed by potential customers through sta -guided tours.

ORIgen is one-of-a kind. Experience the ORIgen DIFFERENCE – contact us today!

EPD and Sale Book Definitions

PRODUCTION• CALVING EASE DIRECT (CED), is expressed as a difference in percentage of

unassisted births, with a higher value indicating greater calving ease in first-calf heifers. It predicts the average difference in ease with which a sire’s calves will be born when he is bred to first-calf heifers.

• BIRTH WEIGHT EPD (BW EPD), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s abili-ty to transmit birth weight to his progeny compared to that of other sires.

• WEANING WEIGHT EPD (WW EPD), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit weaning growth to his progeny compared to that of other sires.

• YEARLING WEIGHT EPD (YW EPD), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit yearling growth to his progeny compared to that of other sires.

• RESIDUAL AVERAGE DAILY GAIN (RADG), expressed in pounds per day, is a pre-dictor of a sire’s genetic ability for postweaning gain in future progeny compared to that of other sires, given a constant amount of feed consumed.

• YEARLING HEIGHT EPD (YH), is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit yearling height, expressed in inches, compared to the that of other sires.

• SCROTAL CIRCUMFERENCE EPD (SC), expressed in centimeters, is a predictor of the difference in transmitting ability for scrotal size compared to that of other sires.

• DOCILITY (DOC), is expressed as a difference in yearling cattle temperament, with a higher value indicating more favorable docility. It predicts the average difference of progeny from a sire in comparison with another sire’s calves. In herds where temperament problems are not an issue, this expected difference would not be realized.

MATERNAL• MATERNAL MILK EPD (MILK), is a predictor of a sire’s genetic merit for milk and

mothering ability as expressed in his daughters compared to daughters of other sires. In other words, it is that part of a calf’s weaning weight attributed to milk and mothering ability.

• COW ENERGY VALUE ($EN), expressed in dollars savings per cow per year, assesses differences in cow energy requirements as an expected dollar savings dif-ference in daughters of sires. A larger value is more favorable when comparing two animals (more dollars saved on feed energy expenses). Components for computing the cow $EN savings difference include lactation energy requirements and energy costs associated with differences in mature cow size.

CARCASS• CARCASS WEIGHT EPD (CW), expressed in pounds is a predictor of the differenc-

es in hot carcass weight of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires.• MARBLING EPD (MARB), expressed as a fraction of the difference in USDA mar-

bling score of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires.• RIBEYE AREA EPD (RE), expressed in square inches, is a predictor of the differ-

ence in ribeye area of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires.• FAT THICKNESS EPD (FAT), expressed in inches, is a predictor of the differences in

external fat thickness at the 12th rib (as measured between the 12th and 13th ribs) of a sire’s progeny compared to progeny of other sires.

$VALUE INDEXES$Value indexes are multi-trait selection indexes, expressed in dollars per head, to assist beef producers by adding simplicity to genetic selection decisions. The $Value is an esti-mate of how future progeny of each sire are expected to perform, on average, compared to progeny of other sires in the database if the sires were randomly mated to cows and if calves were exposed to the same environment. • WEANED CALF VALUE ($W), an index value expressed in dollars per head, is the

expected average difference in future progeny performance for preweaning merit. $W includes both revenue and cost adjustments associated with differences in birth weight, weaning direct growth, maternal milk, and mature cow size.

• FEEDLOT VALUE ($F), an index value expressed in dollars per head, is the expected average difference in future progeny performance for postweaning merit compared to progeny of other sires.

• GRID VALUE ($G), an index value expressed in dollars per head, is the expected average difference in future progeny performance for carcass grid merit compared to progeny of other sires.

• BEEF VALUE ($B), an index value expressed in dollars per head, is the expected average difference in future progeny performance for postweaning and carcass value compared to progeny of other sires.

EXPECTED PROGENY DIFFERENCE (EPD), is the prediction of how future progeny of each animal are expected to perform relative to the progeny of other animals listed in the database. EPDs are expressed in units of measure for the trait, plus or minus. Interim EPDs may appear on young animals when their performance has yet to be incorporated into the American Angus Association National Cattle Evaluation (NCE) procedures. This EPD will be preceded by an “I”, and may or may not include the animal’s own performance record for a particular trait, depending on its availability, appropriate contemporary grouping, or data edits needed for NCE.

EPDs are enhanced by genomic profiles generated by Igenity and Pfizer, when applicable.

$Value Indexes, are multi-trait selection indexes, expressed in dollars per head, to assist beef producers by adding simplicity to genetic selection decisions. The $Value is an estimate of how future progeny of each sire are expected to perform, on average, compared to progeny of other sires in the database if the sires were randomly mated to cows and if calves were exposed to the same environment.

All EPD data and references to it presented in this publication are based upon data provided by the American Angus Association as of April 8, 2016. EPD data is updated weekly by the American Angus Association and additional weight ratio data, ultrasound ratio data and genomic data from individuals that sell in this sale, their parents and their progeny will impact the EPD data for that animal. Current EPD data for individual animals can always be accessed online at www.angus.org.

Extended-Release Injectable Parasiticide5% Sterile SolutionNADA 141-327, Approved by FDA for subcutaneous injectionFor the Treatment and Control of Internal and External Parasites of Cattle on Pasture with Persistent Effectiveness

CAUTION: Federal law restricts this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian.INDICATIONS FOR USELONGRANGE, when administered at the recommended dose volume of 1 mL per 110 lb (50 kg) body weight, is effective in the treatment and control of 20 species and stages of internal and external parasites of cattle:

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATIONLONGRANGE® (eprinomectin) should be given only by subcutaneous injection in front of the shoulder at the recommended dosage level of 1 mg eprinomectin per kg body weight (1 mL per 110 lb body weight).

WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONSWithdrawal Periods and Residue Warnings

Animals intended for human consumption must not be slaughtered within 48 days of the last treatment. This drug product is not approved for use in female dairy cattle 20 months of age or older, including dry dairy cows. Use in these cattle may cause drug residues in milk and/or in calves born to these cows.A withdrawal period has not been established for pre-ruminating calves. Do not use in calves to be processed for veal.

Animal Safety Warnings and PrecautionsThe product is likely to cause tissue damage at the site of injection, including possible granulomas and necrosis. These reactions have disappeared without treatment. Local tissue reaction may result in trim loss of edible tissue at slaughter.Observe cattle for injection site reactions. If injection site reactions are suspected, consult your veterinarian. This product is not for intravenous or intramuscular use. Protect product from light. LONGRANGE® (eprinomectin) has been developed specifically for use in cattle only. This product should not be used in other animal species.

When to Treat Cattle with GrubsLONGRANGE effectively controls all stages of cattle grubs. However, proper timing of treatment is important. For the most effective results, cattle should be treated as soon as possible after the end of the heel fly (warble fly) season.

Environmental HazardsNot for use in cattle managed in feedlots or under intensive rotational grazing because the environmental impact has not been evaluated for these scenarios.

Other Warnings: Underdosing and/or subtherapeutic concentrations of extended-release anthelmintic products may encourage the development of parasite resistance. It is recommended that parasite resistance be monitored following the use of any anthelmintic with the use of a fecal egg count reduction test program.

TARGET ANIMAL SAFETYClinical studies have demonstrated the wide margin of safety of LONGRANGE® (eprinomectin). Overdosing at 3 to 5 times the recommended dose resulted in a statistically significant reduction in average weight gain when compared to the group tested at label dose. Treatment-related lesions observed in most cattle administered the product included swelling, hyperemia, or necrosis in the subcutaneous tissue of the skin. The administration of LONGRANGE at 3 times the recommended therapeutic dose had no adverse reproductive effects on beef cows at all stages of breeding or pregnancy or on their calves. Not for use in bulls, as reproductive safety testing has not been conducted in males intended for breeding or actively breeding. Not for use in calves less than 3 months of age because safety testing has not been conducted in calves less than 3 months of age.
