BLOCK ASSEMBLY PROJECT USES PRECISE 1/4” SEAMS. TEST YOUR SEAM ALLOWANCE BY CUTTING (2) 2-1/2” X 5” RECTANGLES. STITCH THEM TOGETHER ALONG THE 5” LENGTH. AT THE MIDPOINT, MEASURE ACROSS THE UNIT. IT SHOULD BE EXACTLY 4-1/2” WIDE. IF NOT, ADJUST YOUR SEAM ALLOWANCE AND REPEAT.

FINISHING Cut batting and backing 3” larger than top on all sides. Layer backing, batting and top together and baste or pin. When quilting is completed, trim excess batting and backing. Bind as usual.

Blocks1. Sew (1) B 2-1/2” x 39-1/2” strip to each side (1) A 22-1/2” x 39-1/2” panel. Sew (1) B 4” x 26-1/2” strip to the top and to the bottom of the A panel. Trim the block to measure 25-1/2” x 45-1/2” to make the Center Block.
2. Sew (2) D triangles, (1) E triangle and (1) C triangle together to make (1) D-Block. Repeat to make (28) D-Blocks total.
Quilt Assembly3. Sew (9) D-Blocks together. Repeat to make a second strip. Sew (1) strip to each side of the Center Block.
4. Sew (5) D-Blocks together. Sew (1) F 5-1/2” square to each end of the strip. Repeat to make a second strip. Sew the strips to the top and to the bottom of the Center Block to make the quilt top.
5. Sew (1) G 3” x (55-1/2”) strip to each side of the quilt top. Sew (1) G 3” x (40-1/2”) strips to the top and bottom of quilt top.
6. Sew (1) H 4-1/2” x (60-1/2”) strip to each side of the quilt top.
7. Sew (1) E 2” x (48-1/2”) to the top and to the bottom of the quilt top.
8. Sew (1) H 3-1/2” x (48-1/2”) strip to the top and to the bottom of the quilt top.
