1. BACKGROUND About the City Showcase The City Showcase aims to provide youth soccer players from New York City, the greater New York metropolitan area, and beyond with strong competition, exposure to college soccer recruitment, and information on college access, from both an educational and athletic standpoint. One primary emphasis of the event is to provide a platform for inner city and minority youth who are underrepresented in higher education and college soccer. We are proud to welcome a diverse set of teams to the event, who represent the diversity of youth soccer. In 2016, we welcome 75 teams, boys and girls, U15-U19, from New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, Virginia, and Canada. The City Showcase Tournament and Symposium is a partnership between South Bronx United and Downtown United Soccer Club (DUSC). About the Organizations South Bronx United is a nonprofit youth development organization whose mission is to use soccer as a tool for social change in, statistically, the nation’s poorest congressional district. The organization leverages soccer to engage over 900 youth in off the field programs including academic enrichment, college prep, mentoring, leadership development, health and wellness promotion, immigrant services, and other social support services. The vast majority of South Bronx United’s budget goes to non-soccer programming. Its mission is to help youth build character, teamwork, and leadership so that they can succeed in high school, college, careers, their community and beyond. For more information on the organization, visit www.southbronxunited.org Also a nonprofit, DUSC’s mission is to educate, train and inspire youth soccer players of all ages and abilities in a positive, respectful, supportive environment, and to foster a community that reflects the diversity of New York City in which children can develop a lifelong love for the beautiful game and realize their full potential as both players and people. Both organizations are members of the Cosmopolitan Junior Soccer League and the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association. DUSC is also a member of the Eastern Development Program (EDP) league through US Club Soccer. For more information on the club visit www.dusc.net

2. REGISTRATION CHECK-IN CHECK-IN PROCEDURE The following should already be uploaded to GotSoccer prior to arrival:

• One Signed Waiver Form, • Copies of Passes from USYS, US Club Soccer, or the respective international governing body for all players, • Copy of official league roster.

Rosters should also be entered into the GotSoccer system. At least one-hour prior to the first game, all teams must send one representative (coach or manager) to check-in at the entrance to Field 72. Passes will not need to be shown if online registration was completed, but teams should carry passes and Medical Release Forms with them at all times. Teams will pick up a game card for all of their tournament games. Game cards will be presented to the referee prior to each game. 3. SCHEDULE, STANDINGS, AND FORMATS Schedule and standings are available via the website at www.cityshowcasetournament.org under “Teams” or via your gotsoccer.com account. 5. COLLEGE COACHES Over 70 college coaches have indicated that they would attend the event. The list is available at www.cityshowcasetournament.org under “Colleges”. Of course there is no guarantee that a specific coach will watch your team’s game. The best way to increase the chance a coach will see your team is for you or your players to email coaches directly from schools they are interested in. All coaches have email addresses listed on their college athletics website. If you have any trouble finding anyone’s email address, you can ask us. 6. GAME FILMING SoccerRecruits will be onsite this year with Film & Recruiting packages available for all players in attendance. These event-specific packages include HD game footage of your games filmed by professional videographers. Select packages also include access to the SoccerRecruits online platform that has proven to successfully help thousands of players find success in the recruiting process. You can see the options here: http://soccerrecruits.com/events/cityshowcase2016 http://soccerrecruits.com/events/cityshowcasegirls2016 Call 917-633-4662 or email [email protected] for more information.
