These reports are taken from a software package called PLAN and reflect where teachers judge their students are on the Literacy and Numeracy Continuums. These do not replace the Student Progress Reports that are sent home each semester and are not as comprehensive as these. We simply thought an update on what each student has been learning about in class is appropriate at this time of year. Included in the report you will get home are activities that can easily be done at home to support your child. A more detailed letter will accompany the report. As always, if you have any questions please give us a call. 2016 Year 6-7 High School Enrolments IMPORTANT - Please return completed Expression of Interest forms to the school office this week. These forms were due back at school by 18 th March as the cut-off date for all forms to be forwarded and students enrolled in the respective high schools is this Friday, 1 st April. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Tony Gadd Principal Easter Hat Parade Thanks to everyone who made hats, bought and sold tickets and attended our fabulous Easter Hat Parade on Thursday. It was a lovely event which the children all enjoyed, with some much needed money going to our P&C. Thanks for your support. Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program It will be our last week this term with our two Year 3 classes enjoying the Japanese menu. Many thanks to all our wonderful helpers this term and we hope to see you all again next term! Page 1

Sweetheart Day is held annually and raises much needed funds to provide support for Aussie kids with childhood heart disease as well as to fund vital research. In order to support this vital service, we at Telarah Public School are holding our Sweetheart Day on Friday 1st April. All children can come dressed in red or have crazy red hair for the day for a gold coin donation. As well as this, we will have cupcakes for sale during recess. STAGE 3 NEWS: Yr 5 Great Aussie Bush Camp – Deposit of $100.00 was due last Wednesday. Thank you to everyone who has paid but if you have not done so, please pay as soon as possible. The final payment of $240.00 is due by 3/6/16. Yr 6 Canberra Excursion - A deposit of $100.00 is required to be paid by Friday, 8 April. The medical forms are to be completed and returned to class teacher. The Great Pumpkin Rescue On Thursday last week, 2000 pumpkins were sold in Maitland in a single day. The money for these pumpkins goes to the local farmers who grew them and to the Slow Food Community Kitchen which provides 150 meals a week, via Oz Harvest, to local support services like Carrie’s Place, the men’s refuge and Rutherford Community Centre. The pumpkins had been rescued from being ploughed back into the farmer’s soil. Thanks to everyone who bought a pumpkin or two at school on Thursday. Great job! Thanks also to those of you who bought a pumpkin or two at such short notice.

Road Safety – Helmet and Safety on Wheels Your child must wear a helmet when riding a bike, scooter, rollerskates, skateboards or rollerblades. The helmet should be firmly buckled so it fits without wobbling or slipping to the sides. It must protect the forehead. As from 1 March 2016, new fines have been implemented which include: •Not wearing a helmet (up from $71 to $319) •Riding dangerously (up from $71 to $425) •Not stopping at children's/pedestrian crossings (up from $71 to $425). Please ensure that your child wears a helmet if they ride either a bike or scooter to school.
