2016 INEOS ICAN FOUNDATION ANNUAL REPORT

We focus on child health and education through our signature

health program, INEOS GO Run For Fun, and through grants

made to the education foundations of local school districts.

INEOS GO Run For Fun is a 1-mile fun run that’s delivered during

the school day at no cost to participating elementary schools. GO

Run For Fun is designed to show children in Kindergarten through

5th grade that physical activity can be fun and to encourage

them to develop good exercise habits that last a lifetime. In 2016

we delivered GO Run For Fun to over 10,000 children in 19

elementary schools.

Education Foundation grants are designed to help elementary,

middle and high school teachers augment their teaching by

providing funding for innovative projects in the subjects of

science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). In 2016 we

donated $30,000 to local education foundations.

Our Programs

In 2013 Jim Ratcliffe, the Chairman of INEOS, looked around towns near the company’s European plant sites and became concerned that many children were not as fit as they could be. Jim knows from personal experience how important exercise is to health. He also knows that you can’t make a difference from the sidelines, so he worked with a company that creates some of the UK’s largest sporting events to develop the INEOS GO Run For Fun program, which inspires kids to exercise. INEOS GO Run For Fun is an international program that’s delivered locally to elementary schools in INEOS communities.

The company also recognizes the importance of education to children’s future success, so we partner with local education foundations to provide grants for innovative teaching projects.

INEOS donates the manpower required for organization and event delivery, but in the true entrepreneurial spirit embedded within INEOS culture, employees are not only encouraged to volunteer at INEOS Go Run For Fun runs, but are also charged with providing some of the funding for GO Run For Fun and education foundation grants. In mid-2015 the INEOS ICAN Foundation, a Texas 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, was established to facilitate fundraising in the Houston Gulf-Coast region.


• We conducted our first official series of GO Run For Fun events as a Foundation, following a smaller-scale trial of the program in 2015. 2016 saw us doubling GO Run For Fun’s 2015 impact, serving over 10,000 children in 19 elementary schools.

• We donated $10,000 each to the Education Foundations of the Alvin, Clear Creek and La Porte, (Texas) Independent School Districts in support of their teacher innovative grant programs.

• Thanks to our valued sponsors and community partners we raised $155,500 at our 2016 ICAN Golf Classic golf tournament to help fund operations. This puts us on a good trajectory towards becoming self-funding in the areas in which we currently operate.

• Engagement was high. Ninety-eight INEOS employees volunteered over 1300 hours to help execute GO Run For Fun and the golf tournament. An estimated 150 parents volunteered an additional 450 hours to help deliver INEOS GO Run For Fun runs at their local elementary schools.

• We established methods whereby donors can contribute in a low/no-cost manner. These include grocery store loyalty card and Amazon smile cash-back programs.

Feedback from teachers, school administrators, parents and kids has been positive and indicates that we’re making a difference. I’m pleased with the successes of our first year and I’m looking very much forward to building on those successes in 2017.

2016 was an important year for the Foundation: it was our first full year of operations, and a year in which we formalized the Foundation’s processes and procedures, established relationships with delivery partners, created the Foundation’s website and set up our social media platforms. 2016 was also a success for both program delivery and the fundraising platform that supports our programs. I’d like to share some of our major accomplishments with you. We’re proud to report that in 2016:


Board of Directors

Since December 2005, Mr. Seith has been the President and Chief Executive Officer of INEOS Olefins & Polymers USA. Previously he was the Senior Vice President of North American Operations for Innovene; a wholly owned chemicals business subsidiary of BP prior to its sale to INEOS. He has held engineering and management roles within INEOS and its predecessors since 1979. Mr. Seith earned his BS degree from Texas A&M University. Currently Mr. Seith is a member of both the Engineering School Advisory Board and the Chemical Engineering Industrial Advisory Board at Texas A&M University. He is also a member of the Executive Committee of the American Fuels and Petrochemical Manufacturers Association.

Since April 2009 Mr. Avery has served as Chief Financial Officer of INEOS Olefins & Polymers USA. Prior to that he was the Financial Controller of INEOS Olefins & Polymers USA. Mr. Avery has held financial and accounting positions with INEOS and its prede-cessors since 1990. Mr. Avery earned a BS degree in Accounting from The University of Wyoming in 1990 and an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management in 2001.

Since August 2015 Ms. Shuler has served as Community Relations and Special Projects Manager for INEOS Olefins & Polymers USA. Prior to that Ms. Shuler held various posi-tions with the company including Six Sigma Black Belt, Business Development Manager, and Polypropylene Product Development and Technical Service Manager. She has been with INEOS and its predecessors since 1991. She holds an MS Chemistry degree from the University of Houston. She serves as the Executive Director of the INEOS ICAN Foundation, and also serves as a member of the Clear Creek Education Foundation Board.

Since May 2009, Mrs. Boykin has been the Manager of Cash and Accounts Payable of INEOS Olefins & Polymers USA. Prior to her current role she was a financial analyst at the INEOS Battleground facility in La Porte, Texas. Before joining the INEOS team she worked for 6 years as a public auditor with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLC. She has an MS degree in Accounting from the University of Houston—Clear Lake and a BA from Texas A&M University.
