About KCT Business School

KCT Business School is a hub for nurturing business leaders and entrepreneurs who make an

KCT Business School is a vibrant unit of the large conglomerate – The Sakthi group making their

presence in industries such as sugars, auto components, power, transport, soya, distillery

services, finance, wind mill, dairy and education. The flagship Institution of Sakthi group,

Kumaraguru College of Technology (KCT), its magnificent campus and the edifice, enormous

reputation, robust departments and more were all born out of the vision and dedicated efforts

of the Founder Chairman Dr. N. Mahalingam. The institution is steered towards excellence and

success by Dr. B.K.Krishnaraj Vanavarayar, Chairman, Shri. M. Balasubramaniam,

Correspondent and Shri. Shankar Vanavarayar, Joint Correspondent. KCT, a leading Engineering

College in Tamil Nadu, offers 13 graduate and 14 masters programs. Institution has 16

academic departments and 10 research centres. KCT Business School (KCT.BS) born out of a rich

legacy, strong vision and great commitment was established in 2005 and is located in the 150

acres of KCT campus

About KCT

Kumaraguru college of Technology (KCT), Coimbatore is a private Engineering College started in

1984 under the auspices of Ramanandha Adigalar Foundation, a charitable educational trust of

Sakthi Group. It is situated in 150 acres in the IT corridor of Coimbatore which in many ways

was a frontrunner in the ecosystem.

Currently the college, as an autonomous institution, affiliated to the Anna University, offers 13

undergraduate (B.E., B.Tech.) and 14 post graduate (M.E., M.Tech., MCA, MBA) programs of

study. There are 6150 students on roll, 397 dedicated faculty’s, 98% of placement every year,



distributed 90 Lakhs worth scholarships to the toppers every year, MoU’s with more than 50

Corporates, CALLHUB Language Lab to improve Communication Skills, 8 Centres of Excellence,

Library with more than 90, 000 Books, 450 Journals, 20000 Online Journals, 80 MBPS Internet

Connectivity, 35 Clubs & Associations, 4,200 trees in campus, Wifi Connectivity in the entire

Academics

The curriculum of the MBA program was redesigned, which is robust, industry oriented, current

and innovative and was introduced for the 2015 batch. The curriculum was clearly mapped to

the Course and Program outcomes through intense and elaborate consultation with the

Industry, recruiters, alumni, students and academicians, which was carried out over a 10

months period. The new curriculum gives flexibility and gives opportunity for the students to

explore the breadth of management education but also gives in-depth understanding in the

area of special interest.

Entrepreneurship and Business Analytics are the new concentrations introduced in the new

curriculum apart from Marketing, Finance, Operations, and HR.

The new curriculum includes General Interest courses like Spoken Hindi, Theatre, Film

Appreciation, Yoga and Business Innovation. A Capstone Simulation and Career Readiness

Programs have also been introduced. To enhance the practical learning, students will undergo

four Projects – Social Immersion Project, Research Immersion Project, Corporate Internship/

Entrepreneurship Immersion Project and Major Project. Certificate courses offered by Industry/

Professional bodies have also been added in the curriculum. Wide choices of Electives have

been designed to enable students to choose courses based on their interest and career

opportunities. The Core Courses too were revised to meet the current needs of the Industry.

Career Support

The career guidance cell was launched to guide and mentor the students on a one on one basis.

Several students have benefitted out this these discussions and were able to take a right career

path.

The Placement year began with a Placement Competency Assessment Camp for Class of 2016,

to assess the existing competency of the students. Based on the results, training on Aptitude,

Group Discussion, Extempore and effective handling of Interviews were given to students as



part of the regular placement training. Systematic Assessment Test on the necessary pre-

requisites for successfully clearing an interview was conducted for batch 2013-15 and 2014-16.

Company Specific placement training conducted at regular intervals has proven to help

students clear the interviews with ease.

Managerial Skill Development classes, apart from this regular placement guidance counselling

sessions were organized for batch 2014-16.

The KCT.BS Centre of finance is a one-of-of the kind specialty cluster that exists to impart in-

depth analytical and theoretical education in finance, by offering core and range of electives
