WASCA is pleased to invite you to the 2015 Annual Education Conference & Tradeshow, which is being held at the Tulalip Resort & Spa, 10200 Quil Ceda Boulevard in Tulalip, Washington, on Monday, November 16th, and Tuesday, November, 17th. WASCA’s commitment to providing educational opportunities, delivering the most recent updates regarding health reform and advocacy for our industry’s place in the Washington healthcare market remains strong. It is through educational programs and events, like this, that our industry remains resilient and informed. Among our speakers are Steve Miller, Chief Operating Officer Ambulatory Surgery Center Association, Emily Studebaker, JD, WASCA’s Legal Counsel and Kathryn Kolan, JD, Director of Legislative and Regulatory Affairs, Washington State Medical Association, who will provide important information regarding changes in federal and state rules and regulations - and anticipated changes - affecting the ambulatory surgery industry in our state. WASCA continues to work diligently to develop strong working relationships with our legislators and state agencies such as the Department of Health. At the Annual Education Conference & Tradeshow, representatives of Department of Health’s Construction Review Services as well as the Office of Investigations and Inspections will be available to attendees to provide technical assistance at designated booths. WASCA is proud to have the support of more than 80 trade show exhibitors. These companies support ASCs with products and services and attend the trade show to offer solutions to meet your day-to-day operational needs. The tradeshow provides you the opportunity to see new products and search out solutions key to remaining competitive in a volatile market. We look forward to your attendance at the Annual Education Conference & Tradeshow. If you would like any additional information regarding the conference, please do not hesitate to contact WASCA at [email protected] or (206) 992-3330. Sincerely,

The Washington Ambulatory Surgery Center Association’s affiliated Political Action Committee, Our Patients Come First PAC, serves as one of the essential foundations for the association’s advocacy and political activities. We are writing to encourage you to strongly support this PAC with your contributions, allowing the PAC to provide campaign funding support for legislative candidates who have already been helpful to WASCA members, or who are seen as potentially helpful in the future with legislative challenges faced each year when the legislature is in session. It has brought the ambulatory surgery industry to the forefront of political activities in Washington State, and candidates have expressed their strong appreciation for contributions they have received. WASCA retains the services of a lobbyist, Susie Tracy, who has more than 30 years of experience lobbying for a variety of medical interests before the Washington State Legislature and the Washington State Department of Health. With the assistance of Ms. Tracy, the association has been successful in passing legislation to strengthen and clarify licensing laws, reduce proposed licensing fees, assist with encouraging pricing transparency, and defeat surgical technologist education and certification requirements that would have been unrealistic for many centers. The lobbyist’s efforts are very useful but they are augmented by the contributions made by Our Patients Come First PAC. It is the combination of the two that has increased our effectiveness in Olympia. Your contribution to the PAC, with a suggested minimal check for $1,000, will assure that the PAC remains financially viable. Checks should be made out to Our Patients Come First PAC and mailed to Our Patients Come First PAC, 805 Madison St, Suite 901, Seattle, WA 98104. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact any one of us, and we would be happy to be of assistance. In the meantime, we appreciate this means of your supporting your association and helping it continue with effective political activities in the State. Sincerely,

William A. Portuese, MD Seattle Facial and Plastic Surgery WASCA PAC President
