We’ve built our reputation over the decades in part by sticking to a handful of common sense
guidelines. It’s not a new philosophy—just a few good ideas that stand the test of time.

Dear Dairyland Friend:American Agriculture. I am very fortunate to be working with the 0.01% of the world’s population
who farm in America.
I certainly consider myself lucky to have found opportunity in my late parents’ business—a
fundamentally sound business, always based on the principle of treating people right.
It is also gratifying to work directly with world-class scientists, bringing their advances to your farm.
We are all privileged to work with America’s most progressive farmers, as you continue trusting
these advances in technology and plant breeding and quickly adopting them.
Nonetheless, ironically, I fi nd myself defending American Agriculture. Does this happen to you?
Let’s begin by sharing with Americans some basic facts.
There are roughly 750,000 American farmers, of the more than 7 billion people worldwide.
So … American farmers represent merely 0.01% of the world’s population—yet this year they are
projected to produce 37% of the world’s corn and 34% of the world’s soybeans!
One one-hundredth of a percent of the world’s population, providing over one-third of the corn
and soybeans!! Amazing indeed—an accomplishment we can all be proud of!
So, when your urban friends suggest they want us to “go back to the good old days,” remind them
of the progress you’ve made. Tell them about a growing world population.
Lastly, tell them about how, through science, innovation and foresight, you will feed even more
people in the future!
Sincerely,
Thomas G. Strachota, General Manager

The Enlist™ Weed Control System is an advanced herbicide and trait system that builds on Roundup Ready®
technology with tolerance to new 2,4-D choline.
Enlist Duo™ herbicide with Colex-D™ Technology combines two modes of action for exceptional control against
tough weeds. Enlist traits provide robust tolerance to over-the-top applications of Enlist Duo herbicide. And the
Enlist Ahead management resource offers comprehensive support to help growers succeed.
Proven in hundreds of field trials,
Enlist traits enable exceptional weed control with
Enlist Duo herbicide in the same application window
as glyphosate. Control the toughest weeds to
protect yield potential.

When we select corn hybrids for our Dairyland lineup, we pay
close attention to the genetic bloodlines and where those genetics
have done well. We also take a close look at strip plot results, as
they are strong indicators of performance. We analyze that real-
world data in order to make the right recommendations for your
unique situation.

Refuge Advanced combines all the power of the industry’s leading trait technology with the
simplicity of a single-bag solution. High-performance traited seed is blended with agronomically
equivalent refuge seed. Just dump the bag in the planter and go.
SmartStax off ers the broadest spectrum of pest control available, for above- and below-ground
insects, including European corn borer, southwestern corn borer, northern corn rootworm, western
corn rootworm, corn earworm, fall armyworm, western bean cutworm and black cutworm. Unlike
fi rst-generation Bt traits, SmartStax has multiple traits expressed throughout the entire plant. t
As a result, pests are attacked in multiple areas of the midgut, reducing the likelihood of insect
resistance and increasing control.
POWERCORE™ provides broad-spectrum
insect control for highly effective
protection against key above-ground
pests. POWERCORE controls black
cutworm, western bean cutworm,
European corn borer, southwestern
corn borer, corn earworm and fall
armyworm with more modes of
action than Genuity VT Double Pro.
Dairyland Seed anticipates offering
POWERCORE for sale in 2015.

Refuge and Bt managementPracticing sound Bt management and following grain marketing requirements are crucial to protecting your crop plan options, today and in the future. When
planting hybrids with in-plant traits, it’s important that you follow all applicable Insect Resistant Management (IRM) and grain marketing requirements.
Refuge location and confi guration optionsThe structured refuge may be planted as an in-fi eld refuge or an adjacent (e.g., across the road) refuge. Corn borer refuge may also be planted as a separate
block that is within ½ mile of the Bt fi eld. In-fi eld refuge options include blocks, perimeter strips (i.e., strips around the fi eld) or in-fi eld strips. In-fi eld blocks
or strips must be at least four consecutive rows wide. Seed mixtures of Bt and no-Bt corn (other than the mixture provided as SmartStax® Refuge Advanced®)
are not permitted. When switching between Bt hybrids and the seed to be planted in the refuge, planter hoppers should be cleaned out to avoid inadvertent
mixing of seed. Growers should calculate the acres required for refuge and plant the appropriate amount of refuge seed for the confi guration options selected.
For example, in choosing to plant in-fi eld strips, a grower must calculate how much refuge seed is needed to meet the minimum refuge requirement and fi ll the
refuge planter boxes with that amount. Strips should be planted until the minimum refuge seed is completely used. The remainder of the fi eld can then be
planted with Bt seed in all boxes.

TRAIT STEWARDSHIP
Crop and grain marketing stewardshipDow AgroSciences is a member of Excellence Through Stewardship (ETS).
Dow AgroSciences’ products are commercialized in accordance with ETS
product launch stewardship guidance, and Dow AgroSciences’ Product
Launch Stewardship Policy.
Any grain or material produced from Bt seed can only be exported to, or
used in, processed in or sold in countries where all necessary regulatory
approvals have been granted. It is a violation of national and international
law to move material containing biotechnology traits across boundaries
into nations where import is not permitted. Talk to your grain handler or
purchaser in advance to facilitate appropriate crop and grain or material
handling and marketing.
For further information about your crop or grain marketing options, contact
Dow AgroSciences at 877-4-TRAITS (877-487-2487). Information regarding
the regulatory and market status of agricultural biotechnology products can
be found at: www.biotradestatus.com.
Technology Use AgreementYou must have a valid, executed Technology Use Agreement on fi le with
Dow AgroSciences to legally obtain, plant, and grow hybrids that contain
Bt technology from Dow AgroSciences. Dow AgroSciences Technology Use
Agreements include coverage for Dow AgroSciences soybean and cotton
technology use as well. They can be found at www.traitstewardship.com
or can be signed electronically at https://agcelerate.com/.
Know Before You Grow
Before selecting hybrids for your crop plan,
Dow AgroSciences and the National Corn Growers Association (NCGA)
recommend you know and understand whether the hybrid you’ve chosen
is a conventional hybrid, approved for export to the purchasing country or
one not yet approved for export. It is important that you read the Technology
Use Agreement from the technology provider prior to planting, so you
understand crop requirements and to ensure that all exported grain goes
only to approved corn markets.
Refuge calculatorNational Corn Growers Association (NCGA) in collaboration with the industry
has developed a web-based calculator to help growers calculate the
minimum refuge requirements for each of the Bt products on their farm. This
calculator can be accessed at www.irmcalculator.com.

Why do we dedicate so much of our time to researching and
identifying the latest in silage genetics? Because we believe a good
silage hybrid is diff erent than a good grain hybrid. Our HiDF silage
focus clearly identifi es the yield and quality characteristics that
today’s producers demand: soft kernel texture, improved NDFd,
high starch and overall tonnage.

We’ve come a long way since Dairyland announced the
development of the world’s first herbicide-tolerant soybeans.
Partnering with Dow AgroSciences, we have dramatically
expanded our plant breeding effort with more breeders, more
research stations, more plots and new technology. But all of
this research is of little value if the end product does not work
for you. We take a deep look to determine which products work
best on your acres.

What drew me to Dairyland was the good reputation that their soybean products had in the area. Having planted Dairyland genetics over the years, it is a reputation that is well-founded.
