NCLR Integrated Marketing and Events-Sponsorship Intern Description Position: Integrated Marketing and Events Department, Sponsorship Intern Location: Washington, DC Office Contact/Supervisor: Nicole Moya [email protected] Stipend: Unpaid, Metro reimbursement BACKGROUND NCLR (National Council of La Raza) the largest national Latino civil rights and advocacy organization in the U.S., seeks a Sponsorships Intern for its Integrated Marketing and Events (IME) team. The IME component works directly in setting up NCLR’S signature events of the year. This position provides overall support to the Sponsorships Team, in fundraising, organizing and executing the NCLR Capital Awards, NCLR Annual Conference, National Latino Family Expo, and NCLR ALMA Awards. Qualified candidates will have an interest in business development, public affairs, and/or social corporate responsibility, as well as an interest in Latino issues including health, education, policy and civil rights, to name a few. We are looking for someone who would like to take the opportunity of this summer internship to learn via hands-on experience at the 2015 NCLR Annual Conference, with potential to become a full-time staff member within the Integrated Marketing and Events component of NCLR. LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Research on prospective sponsors Appropriate note-taking and report making on meetings Improving writing and communication skills Attending introductory training on fundraising and corporate giving Leaning about Fortune 500 Companies giving areas Tracking deliverables Perfecting a contact database Creating and preparing pitch packages Providing logistical input and on-site support for our events Support staff with work plan implementation and perform other support duties deemed necessary and appropriate QUALIFICATIONS Strong administrative and organizational skills Excellent attention to detail Good spoken and written English Professional communication skills Knowledge of Microsoft programs, especially Word and Excel Excellent interpersonal skills Can work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
