23-29: Thanksgiving Holidays

Dear MSE Families,

As we enter my favorite time of the year, let me pause to say thank you

for your continual support of our school. It is indeed a blessing to work in a

school where parents volunteer on a regular basis in our classrooms as well as

with PTO events and committees. Our students are truly the beneficiaries of

your time and talents.

This month will be quite busy with field trips, special days, and

holidays. In the hustle and bustle of the days, please know that our focus

remains on teaching and learning. We believe these added events are wonderful

extensions of classroom experiences. Be sure to talk to your child about the

curriculum connections.

I look forward to seeing you this month at MSE!

With a thankful heart,

Mrs. Johnston

Principal

THANKFUL! As we come to this month of Thanksgiving, I realize how

blessed we are to be a part of Madison Station Elementary. Our children are

blessed with amazing teachers, school administrators, and staff members. We

are also blessed with many wonderful parents. Many of you spend countless

hours enriching the lives of our children with your time and talents. THANK

YOU!

A special thanks to Shelley White, Rebecca Thomas, and Stacie Hurt for a

wonderful Fall Fest. And, to those who helped the night of the festival, Thank

You! We could not have done it without you. Our first annual Gift of Time

auction was a huge success! A big thanks to Melissa Bell. She did a wonderful

job planning and running the auction.

Our Thanksgiving lunches are coming up, and I look forward to seeing you all

there! Have a wonderful month and Happy Thanksgiv-

ing.

Sincerely,

Christie Smith

Madison Station’s 3 Major Goals!

Arts:

On November 6, the entire Madison Station school will attend Annie, this year’s student production at Madison

Central. We are excited to have a school-wide field trip and to support our high school. Many of the students

are former MSE students, siblings of our students, or children of our teachers. Exposure to plays and drama is

a goal of the MSE arts program at MSE.

Academics:

Math Facts! Our Madison Station students in grades 1-5 are continuing to work hard on becoming fluent with

their math facts. This means that a student should be able to quickly give the answer to the facts orally and in

writing. 1st and 2nd grade students will be working on addition and subtraction facts and beginning in 3rd grade

students will begin multiplication facts. 4th and 5th grade students should continue to practice all operations.

Students are given weekly fact assessments. There are fun aps, computer games, websites and workbooks to

assist you in practice. Old-fashioned flashcards work great too!

Fitness:

With the holidays fast approaching, it is the perfect time to model healthy eating and daily physical activity.

Research indicates that when a parent increases their daily physical activity their children's physical activity

patterns increase as well.

their Thanksgiving shopping. Special thanks to Kroger Colony

Athenos Greek in Madison. A sign-up genius list will be sent

mid-November to the whole school for help with monetary

donations, desserts, beverages and volunteers.

COAT TIME IS HERE!!

we can get it to a child. PLEASE HELP US OUT and
