It's snowbird season, and Homework Helpers would welcome even one hour, one Tuesday or Thursday from 3:00 PM sharp to 4:00 PM - to keep the students up to date on their homework tasks. Generally we have 8-10 helpers one-on-one with students at the Boys and Girls Club, Kindergarten through 3 th grade, working with homework assignments and other areas where they need assistance. Out the Study Window – The Gift of Lent In the first chapter of John’s gospel we encounter a curiouspassage of scripture where Jesus notices some discipleswho are beginning to follow him. He turns and asks them,“What are you looking for?” They respond by asking,“Rabbi, where are you staying?” What is curious aboutthis passage is that Jesus doesn’t tell them where he is staying. Instead he says, “Come and See.” John 1:38-39a.

This Lenten season I want to invite you to give yourself agift during Lent; the gift of time and attention with God. I want to invite you on a similar adventure as those earlydisciples; to essentially “come and see” where Jesus is going.

Recently, I have been granted approval to move forward with my Doctor of Ministry projectwhich includes YOU. The first step is for you to sign up to be a part of a small group experienceduring Lent. The groups will meet for five sessions. Sometime in the middle of January, you willbe given many choices of dates to be a part of this journey with others.

In order to find meaning, we will discover ways to abide with God through some new disciplinesof praying, as well as how to notice where God is at work in your life and in the world. Duringthe five weeks of Lent you will discover:

1. How to slow down your fast paced life, and remain productive and vitalized.

2. How to connect with your spiritual self and with God.

3. How to notice where God is at work.

4. How these discoveries can make a difference to you and others.
