Brand SA Awards

BDYC was a finalist in the “Community Group” Award recently. Thank you to

President Peter Jarvis and coach Carolyn Martin who represented us on the

night. Well done to all our coaches and committee for their on going work!

Riverland and Mallee Sports Awards

Congratulations to our Head Coach Jane McFarlane who won the 2014 River-

land and Mallee John Ormsby Coach of the Year award held at the Berri Resort

Hotel in November.

New Clubrooms Project A lot of work has been happening behind the scenes as we prepare to take the project out to tender.

-Soil reports

-Investigating fire, water, power and sewage applications

-Finalising floor layouts

-Colour selections

-Material selections

-Canteen layouts

-Grant writing (for stadium seating and fit out of offices etc)

-Engineers drawings

-Fundraising ideas

Club Fundraisers

Riverland Wine and Food Festival

Thank you to our committee, coaches and adult gymnasts who worked at this

year’s festival. They set up all the tables and chairs, picked up rubbish,

cleared tables and packed up afterwards raising $1,100 towards our new

clubrooms project. They did such a great job that we have secured the event

for a third year. Well done!

Coaches/Committee Dinner

Thank you to everyone for supporting our major sponsor by attending the club’s end of year dinner at the

Berri Resort Hotel. It was a great way to finish off the year and celebrate what we have achieved.

Coaches Wanted for 2015

Thank you to all our wonderful coaches who put in a fantastic effort this year to bring the club’s coaching

program up to the new national standard. Next year we have two classes for the 9-11 year olds and we are

seeking more coaches to help us run this extra program.

If you would like to coach next year please contact Head Coach Jane McFarlane ph:0400 179 899 asap for

more information. No experienced required and all coaches are supported through our coaching program.

Demonstrators-7-10yrs Demonstrate skills to the younger groups.

Junior Coaches– 11-13yrs Learn progressions and spotting techniques under the supervision of an

accredited coach/qualified supervisor.

Beginner Coaches-14yrs-Adults Are required to undergo a Gym SA on-line course and face to face

component and attend club workshops.

Accredited Coaches-16yrs-Adults This course follows the beginners course and requires a Gym SA

on-line course, a face to face component and Senior first aid course. Regular club workshops and courses

must be attended to stay qualified.

All volunteers 18 years and over need a police check approved by the “Member Protection Officer”

before taking up any role with the club.

40 Children, parents and grandparents enjoyed the annual Kindergym Christmas

Party with a morning tea and special visit from Father Christmas. Thank you to

everyone for supporting our program for the little ones.

Kindergym Kids

School’s Gymnastics Program

Thank you to coaches Karen Baxter, Jane McFarlane, Michael Herrmann,

Jody Scott and Kathy Reid who ran this year’s program for the Berri Primary

School. Approximately 200 students participated in 30 gymnastics sessions

over a two week period. The program raised $1,500 towards our new

clubrooms project. Well done!!

Club Displays

The troupe featured on the 5RM Young Guns show this year and have been

awarded a discount card from Riverland Premier Sports. This is the first time a

team has been recognized on the radio sports show.

Volunteers Required for 2015 (Note-all volunteers over 18yrs require a Police Check approved by the Member Protection Officer before commencing any role with the club)

Cleaners x2 Can you help once a week, once a month or every now and then, please let us know. All equipment and clean-

ing products are supplied by the club. Commencing February 2015.

Registration Officer Duties

-Responsible for registering all gymnasts through the Gymnastics Australia on-line database.

-Keeping group information folders up to date.

-Chasing up outstanding registrations.

-Providing an updated list to the Treasurer.

Requirements-Computer skills, own computer and internet access, able to attend Registration Day and

each gym session for the first 3 weeks of Term 1, Membership report for the committee as required and

be available at least once a week to collect paperwork from the clubrooms. Experience-Some computer experience is required and training will be provided. Commencing-Registration Day, 21st February 2015
