4. Identify gaps in your current competencies in process facilitation.

5. Develop a plan of action to bridge the identified gaps and achieve

successful certification initially as CCF and ultimately as CMF.

facilitation skills and build your practice portfolio.

Workshop Facilitators

Janice Lua, CPF, CMF, has an MSc (UK) in Technology Management and a

MBA (Australia) in Entrepreneurial Management. She has more than 13

years of experience in the private, public and people sectors across

different industries holding senior management positions. She has

extensive experience in providing training, facilitation and consultancy in

organisation-wide change management, business process re-engineering,

corporate/strategic planning, action planning and project management.

She has facilitated internationally using methods such as The World Café,

Open Space Technology and Future Search. She is a Senior National

Business Excellence Assessor, Certified Management Consultant, Qualified

Strengths Deployment Inventory® Facilitator, PMI certified Project

Management Professional, IAF Certified Professional Facilitator (CPF), an

INIFAC Certified Master Facilitator (CMF) and CMF Assessor, and licensed

Dynamic Facilitation Instructor. She co-founded the Facilitators Network in

2004 to upscale the competencies of facilitators in Singapore and the

region and co-authored SPOT on Facilitation in 2011.

Prabu Naidu, CPF, CMF, holds a Masters in Organisational Behaviour

(Birkbeck College, UK) and gained 19 years of MNC experience (1980-1999)

with Philips, AT&T andCompaq which spanned diverse functions in

Engineering, Materials, Project Management, TQM, HRD, Managing

Change and Supply Chain Re-Engineering - these set the foundation for his

current fourteen years (2000-2014) of training, facilitation and

consulting work in organisational development. He has designed and

delivered numerous OD interventions for MNCs, SMEs, Government

departments and not-for-profit organisations in Singapore and regionally

for MNEs and SMEs. He is an IAF Certified Professional Facilitator

(CPF) and an INIFAC Certified Master Facilitator (CMF). In 2013 he

was nominated as a board member of INIFAC to oversee

development of facilitation in Asia. He co-founded the Facilitators

Network in 2004 to upscale the competencies of facilitators in Singapore

and the region. His lectures at professional institutions are always well

received by the students as all his lectures are very engaging and

facilitative. He co-authored SPOT on Facilitation in 2011.

Master Facilitators bring PAC³E to every engagement

A. Presence

Master Facilitators bring compassion and authority to the room. Through their verbal and non-verbal

expression, they exude confidence, energy and self-awareness while also conveying a high level of

warmth and caring. They make adjustments in their style to better serve the group.

B. Assessment

Master Facilitators know and ask the questions necessary to accurately assess a client need. Based on

their learning from past experiences, they create processes designed to address the client’s specific

requirements. They carefully plan and prepare sessions. They recognize when a planned process is not

working effectively and are able to define alternative processes quickly to reach the desired outcome.

C. Communication

Master facilitators are skilled communicators. They actively listen, making sure to playback and confirm

important points. They have highly-tuned analytic skills which allow them to process information

quickly, differentiate various content issues and isolate critical points in a discussion. They ask questions

that help groups to engage effectively. They deliver instructions that are accurate, clear and concise.

They effectively identify and verbally summarize agreements.

D. Control

Master Facilitators create and maintain a productive and safe environment in which participants with

diverse styles and culture can engage in interactions that stay focused on achieving the goal. They

maintain control of the session and an appropriate pace. They understand causes of disagreement and

can effectively guide a group through conflict. They consciously take action to prevent, detect and

resolve dysfunctional behavior.

E. Consistency

Master Facilitators understand and consistently apply best practice techniques for such activities as

starting the session, focusing the group, recording information, and closing the session.

F. Engagement

Master Facilitators know and use multiple techniques for engaging a group, problem solving, decision-

making, promoting creativity and raising energy.

A Certificate of Achievement will be awarded by the Facilitators Network Singapore (FNS) for those who fulfil the

requirements of the workshop, including 100% attendance.

Cancellation and Postponement

Upon registration, the full workshop fee is payable to reserve a place. A cancellation fee of SGD100 per workshop

day will apply for postponement, cancellation or withdrawal by the participant 2 weeks before the workshop

date. Thereafter, the full workshop fee is payable regardless of attendance because of our financial pre-

commitment for the workshop facilitator(s), workshop materials and seminar package. However, we welcome

replacement.

FNS reserves the right to cancel or postpone the event due to unforseen circumstances. Fees paid will be fully

refunded in the event of course cancellation by FNS.

PROFILE OF FNS Facilitators Network Singapore (FNS) was formed in 2003 with the mission of promoting and supporting the art and practice of professional facilitation in Singapore and the region through methods exchange, collegial networking and support services. As a social enterprise, FNS operates with the agility of a private enterprise with a non-profiteering intent, managed by a non-remunerated volunteer team. FNS provides professional facilitation training and services for effective corporate retreats, strategic planning, group decision-making, board meetings, stakeholder focus group consultation/engagement and OD consultancy services for corporations at affordable professional fees.

FNS manages certification for the Certified Competent Facilitator (CCF), endorsed by the International Institute for Facilitation (INIFAC). Trained facilitators from FNS volunteer their services to Voluntary Welfare and Not-For-Profit Organisations.
