2015 Annual ASCE/ASHE State Conference

WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING YOU!

Friday, September 11, 2015

DESERT WILLOW CONFERENCE CENTER

4340 East Cotton Center BoulevardPhoenix, Arizona 85040

On behalf of the Conference Planning Committee, we look forward to having you at this year’s ASCE/ASHE Annual State Conference. This conference provides professional development opportunities, networking and fun—all packed into one day. The conference includes continental breakfast, coffee breaks, lunch, cookie breaks, complementary drinks and hor d’oeuvres. We hope that you will stick around after the presentations to enjoy the social reception. We encourage networking to support your professional development and marketing of your industry.

Our morning opening session will include a welcome from our Event Sponsor, Terracon and an introduction from the ASHE National President, Bob Hochevar. Our featured guest speaker will be Bruce Wright, Associate Vice President for Tech Parks Arizona at the University of Arizona, founder and president of the Arizona Center for Innovation and president of Campus Research Corporation. We are excited to have Bruce open up the conference with a discussion on innovation to set the tone for the rest of the conference.

Following the opening session, there will be 6 sessions throughout the day with 4 presentations in each to choose from. Topics reach into the various disciplines of civil engineering and include leadership subjects. These presentations will feature a group of outstanding speakers who will discuss projects and issues that will be sure to keep you keyed in. You can preview the speakers and presentation titles on the program.

At lunch, we will be welcoming ASCE Executive Director, Tom Smith. Tom, who was appointed to this role at the beginning on 2015, has a background in both engineering and law and has been a dedicated member of ASCE for more than 25 years. Bios for our morning and lunch sessions are available on the AzASCE website. We will also be awarding ASCE Section & Region awards and installing the FY15-16 officers. Attendees will help recognize the current and welcome the new leaders of ASCE throughout Arizona.

This event would not be possible without the generous support from local companies. Please visit the sponsor registration for available sponsorship opportunities.

As a reminder, all proceeds will benefit the ASCE Arizona Section Scholarship Fund and the ASHE Scholarship Fund, both of which support the next generation of civil engineers throughout the state.

There will be a Poster Competition for university students from UA, NAU and ASU. Students are encouraged to prepare and present posters showcasing projects they have worked on during their time at their universities. Visa Gift Card prizes will be awarded to first place ($100), second place ($50) and third place ($25).

There will also be a session featuring a fun student challenge between the schools. We look forward to seeing which school brings home the trophy this year.

We will see you in Phoenix on September 11th. Thank you.
