Night!
How we are different from a traditional high school:
Focus on diploma requirements, not electives
Flexibility to take portions of classes needed
Part-time schedules for students who do not need 8 full credits
Virtual classes may be necessary depending on your situation

18 vs 24 Credit Diploma
Both are accepted as a full diploma by the military, community colleges, universities, and employers
The only limitation of the 18 credit diploma is when students do not take their 2 credits of World Language (some Universities require this for admissions)
The biggest difference is a lot of extra electives
By having students on an 18 credit diploma program- we have more flexibility to work with their GPA if needed

*other classes can fulfill this requirement, these are the courses offered through BTS**One full course must be completed virtually in order to receive the 24 credit diploma (all 1112 cohort members and later). You may take a course online that meets both a specific subject area requirement and the virtual requirement.
How to Calculate Your Un-weighted Cumulative GPA- Only Final Averages (when credits are earned) are used to calculate your graduation GPA- Each final grade is worth quality points (A=4 points, B=3 points, C=2 points, D=1 point, F=0 points)
1) For each final semester average multiply that by the amount of credit earned for that course (grade of A= 4 quality points for a 0.5 credit course; 4x0.5=2 quality points earned)
2) Add up all the quality points earned and divide by the number of credits attempted
This is your GPA for that semester. To calculate your cumulative GPA follow the same steps with every semester of high school courses you have attempted. Be sure to include any high school courses taken in middle school.
*this is not the same GPA used by colleges/universities to determine admissions. They recalculate your GPA using only specific classes. Colleges/universities may not all do this the same way so check with each one for which you are applying
**Florida Bright Futures does not use this GPA. Go to http://www.floridastudentfinancialaid.org/ssfad/bf/ for those details
***NCAA uses a different formula to determine eligibility. Go to www.eligibilitycenter.org for details
Your Cumulative GPA to meet graduation requirements includes every high school course you have ever attempted. Here is an example:
