Purpose of the Study Session
To use the state required Annual Update template to provide information to the Board
of Trustees on the progress of actions and services for each JUHSD LCAP goal.
LCAP OverviewThe LCAP is an important component of the LCFF. Under the LCFF all LEAs are required to prepare an LCAP, which describes how they intend to meet annual goals for all pupils, with specific activities to address state and local priorities identified pursuant to EC Section 52060(d).
Districts, charter schools and County Offices of Education are required to do the following in the LCAP:
● Address the eight [8] state priorities
● Identify the actions and services to meet the District LCAP goals
● Identify metrics (indicators/data points) for monitoring the progress of each LCAP
goal
● Account for the LCFF supplemental expenditures and District funds
LCAP OverviewThe LCAP includes a description of annual
goals, for all pupils, and for each subgroup of
pupils which include English learners, foster
youth and socio-economically disadvantaged
students.

between parents/guardians and teachers.
● Inform students of progress before it’s too late to make up the grade
Details:● Update the Synergy gradebook every 15 days (twice
before the end of progress report/grading period)
● Educational technologists attended a gradebook training in September 2015

Parent LiaisonsRoles and Responsibilities:
● Parent Liaison will be a point of contact for all English Learner families
● Fostering positive relationships between families and the school site
● Provide translation/interpretation services as needed (i.e. receiving school information in
home language, interpret meetings with school staff, etc.)
● Educate families of school policies, procedures and programs
● Welcoming newcomer families and EL transfers to school site
● Develop workshops and activities to help engage EL Families to participate in their child’s
education
● Collaborating with other Parent Liaison Coordinators in monthly meetings
● Will host an English learner family event
Parent and Staff Input● Promote District/school trainings/workshops (Naviance, CCSS, LCAP, APEX,
FAFSA, informational workshop on a variety of topics)
● Research and develop protocols on how to create a warm and welcoming environment
● District/school will attempt to make website more user friendly (add calendar of dates, add resources etc.)

● Explore the use of social media as a tool platform for students to talk to District and/or school officials about issues and concerns.

Jefferson High SchoolADVANCED PLACEMENT ACADEMY
The AP Academy will provide skill practice and enrichment, ultimately leading to success on both the AP Exam and beyond. The AP Academy will offer a variety of skill development in order to enrich the skills that are being taught during daily instruction in the classroom. Skills will be explicitly taught, practiced, and assessed during each session.

● Contract with Daly City Youth Health Center to provide additional counseling services ( hired 1 additional counselor) on Tuesdays for the entire spring 2015 semester
Thornton High School
Contract with Star Vista to provide psycho-education and counseling to help at-risk youth learn about anger management; improve coping skills; increase academic achievement and school attendance; and improve their sense of self-esteem (21 hours per week for 3 days for 28 weeks
Westmoor High School● Los Hermanos class via Skyline College to provide a college-readiness/ college
preparation/counseling/ assistance and tutoring. Meets twice a week for approximately 3 hours starting in September 2015 and ending in December 2015.
● Kababayan class via Skyline College to provide a college-readiness/college preparation/counseling/assistance and tutoring. Meets twice a week for approximately 3 hours starting in September 2015 and ending in December 2015.
