URAG: PRECISION TOwAGE ON THE wESER ANd AdjOINING wATERS
Linnhoff has two highly specialized towage companies on the
Weser and Elbe. URAG (founded in 1890) operates a fleet of specially
designed and built Voith-Schneider Propeller (VSP) tractor, rotor and
ASD tugs well positioned to serve the shipping ports of the Weser, Jade
and north Sea. URAG is renown for its unparalleled flexibility, and its
hand-picked crews for their expertise and responsible carefulness
according to our maxim “Safety is our Profession”.
As containerships entering major European ports increase in size,
so do tug power requirements accordingly rise. only a decade ago, a
7,000 TEU containership was considered to be record breaking. Today
18,000 TEU vessels are no longer exceptions. in the past, bollard pulls
of 40 tons were state-of-the-art, now 70 tons and more are increasingly
in demand – and URAG has the answer with a fleet of powerful, highly
manoeuvrable tugs for precision towage.

L&R: PRECISION TOwAGE FOR HAmbURG
L&R was founded in 1837 to assist wind-powered sailing ships on their
way up the river Elbe to hamburg, against head winds and currents.
Today hamburg’s port is one of the world’s busiest, handling over
139 million tons of cargo as well as the equivalent of 9,3 million 20 ft
containers.
As ship sizes grew, L&R followed suit, and today it operates a fleet of tugs
fitted with Voith-Schneider, Rotortug or ASD propulsions for advanced
manoeuvrability capabilities delivering fast, precise and safe assistance
in every situation. L&R crews are dependable, well trained both on the
job as well as in highly sophisticated simulators, schooling that ensures
competent, professional and safe service.

FURTHER OFFSHORE
The URAG fleet of tractor tugs fitted with Voith-Schneider Propellers
(VSP) provide the following advantages for offshore work over any con-
ventionally powered vessel:
l outstanding manoeuvrability with finger-tip 360° positioning prec-
ision for the accurate positioning of offshore units and jack-up
platforms, for drawing alongside offshore wind turbine structures
and providing positioning assistance for dredging, cable laying and
salvage operations.
l URAG VSP tractor tugs generate thrust of any magnitude in any
direction quickly, accurately and in a continuously varying manner.
l VSP propulsors lend the URAG tractor tugs impressive motion-
damped properties in a seaway.
l All URAG tractor tugs feature large stern decks for additional cargo
and achor handling capacities.
URAG’s anchor handling tugs and supply vessels BREMEn hUnTER
(112 tons bollard pull / 65 metres loa / 14 knots) and BREMEn fiGhTER
(104 tons bollard pull / 49 metres loa / 16,5 knots) conduct blue water
and coastal towage operations worldwide. Wide deck spaces, ample
winches, towing pins, shark jaws, and open roller sterns enable the
support and towing of drilling platforms, cargo transport as well as
anchor handling operations.
