Distribute the materials
• Students upload their materials so other students (and me :-‐) ) can download the materials
11
Track activities• Define ‘steps’, add deadlines (Moodle sends out automatic notifications)
• View progress and ‘edit checks’
12
Distribute grades -‐ Moodle ‘offline’ assignments• Add grades and feedback • Moodle sends out an automatic notification and students can go on-‐line to check their respective grades • These notifications can be released all at once.

Other useful modules for presentations -‐ choice• ex. Academic presentations -‐ cross-‐curricular • work with Med. Inf. and Med. Eng Professors • They select academic papers for students to choose

Why Moodle-‐supported ESP? à Teacher
• Moodle is a ‘course management system’ which is adapted by the lecturer/teacher
• ESP is ‘needs-‐based’ and the lecturer adapts the language instruction to the needs of the language learner
• There are a multitude of activities and resources that can be ‘embedded’
22
• ‘One-‐stop-‐shop’ – get students to use Moodle & stay in Moodle
• Provide students a variety of cool ESP material (in and out of the classroom) – Technical and Business English (e.g. Apple iPhone profiles) – Medical English (e.g. Mayo Clinic -‐ Medical Edge) – SlideShare / Prezi
• Develop a variety language skills – Listening comprehension – Reading comprehension
