LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT & GM
Welcome Mavericks Fans!
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the
historic sixth season of Missouri Mavericks hockey.
Historic because of the new adventure that awaits
the Mavs for the 2014-15 season!
This season comes with great excitement as the
Mavs have joined the ECHL, the Premier AA hockey
league in North America, and are eager to showcase
the best fans in the hockey world to new faces in
new places.
Last season came with great accomplishment
as the organization was rewarded with its fourth
consecutive Franchise of the Year honor and on the
ice, secured a franchise record 44 wins and the CHLs Governors Cup for the
most regular season points in the league (90 points).
But as we turn the page and look forward to new rivalries, new challenges and
a new leader in our new head coach, former NHL star Richard Matvichuk, we
are gracious and humbled to have all of the Orange Army by our side joining
us in the quest for the Mavericks first Championship.
We strive to give you the best entertainment experience coupled with asuccessful franchise that you are proud to support with unmatched character
and community presence.
We look forward to a memorable, competitive and exciting season and thank
you for your support!
Go Mavs,
Brent Thiessen

ECHL PREVIEW / UPCOMING OPPONENTS
ECHL PreviewThis season marks The New Era in history for the Missouri Mavericks as we join the newly expanded
ECHL. Our new league has grown to include 28 teams in 20 states and one Canadian province as
the ECHL begins its 27th season of play.
The ECHL was founded in 1988 with five teams spanning four states. Since then the ECHL has
grown to encompass teams from coast-to-coast. The ECHL is the Premier AA Hockey league
boasting affiliations with 28 of 30 NHL teams marking the 18th season in a row with at least 20 NHL
affiliations. Likewise, the ECHL shows 72 former stars on NHL opening-day rosters. This marks the
13th consecutive season with more than 50 former players on NHL opening-day rosters.
This season our Mavs will compete with six of our former rivals from the Central Hockey Leaguein the Central Division of the ECHL. The Missouri Mavericks, along with the Allen Americans,
Brampton Beast, Quad City Mallards, Tulsa Oilers, Rapid City Rush, and Wichita Thunder were
approved as expansion teams by the ECHL on October 7th of this year.
These additions strengthen our base in the center of the country and give the ECHL, for the first
time, a truly national presence, said League Commissioner Brian McKenna.
This season the Mavericks begin the quest to capture the Kelly Cup Championship.

their way towards spot in the 2015 Kelly Cup Playoffs. The Central Division is comprised of the seven (7) ECHL
expansion teams including the Allen Americans, Brampton Beast, Rapid City Rush, Quad City Mallards, Tulsa
Oilers, Wichita Thunder, and of course the Missouri Mavericks.
Playoff Format:The top four teams in each division during the regular season will qualify for the 2015 Kelly Cup
Playoffs. All four rounds of the playoffs will be played in a best-of-seven format.
The first two rounds of the playoffs will be played entirely within the division with the division winner meeting the
fourth-place finisher and the second-place finisher meeting the team that finished in third place in the Division
Semifinals. The Division Finals will pit the winner of each series against each other. The winner of the North
Division Finals will meet the winner of the East Division Finals in the Eastern Conference Finals while the winner of
the Central Division will meet the winner of the Pacific Division Finals in the Western Conference Finals. The 2015
Kelly Cup Finals will see the Eastern Conference champion take on the Western Conference champion.

By Bill Althaus
Special to the Missouri Mavericks
The only person more excitedthan coach Richard Matvichuk
about Scott Langdons signing
with the Missouri Mavericks is the
29-year-old defenseman himself,
who will be a difference maker with
a team has been knocking on the
door of a championship series the
past three years.
I want to win, and thats why I am
so excited about playing here for
Coach Matvichuk, said Langdon, a6-foot-2, 215-pound enforcer from
Ancaster, Ontario.
I know how solid the Mavericks
are, and I know that Coach
Matvichuk is a proven winner.
He was on a winning Allen
team the past two years,
and he is bringing that
attitude to
Missouri.
Everyone
k n o w s
theyre one of
the best teams
in the league, and
I think this season,
we are going to be a
championship-caliber team. I
cant wait to start the season.
It seems like weve been
practicing for three months
instead of three weeks.
All the boys are ready to
go, and I think were going to
make some noise and surprise
some teams in the ECHL.
When Matvichuk, a former Allen
Americans assistant, signed on to
coach the Mavericks, Langdon wasthe first player he contacted.
Scott was one of the first guys
I targeted, one of the first guys
I wanted the Mavericks to sign,
Matvichuk said.
He is going to be a fan favorite.Hes going to be an icon on the
ice and in the community. When
I talked with him about coming
to Missouri, the first thing he said
was, Coach, all I want to do is win.
Were on the same wavelength.
Langdon was the captain of
the ECHLs San Francisco Bulls
last season, but he spent two
seasons in Allen (2010-11, 2011-
12), so he is familiar with theintense atmosphere inside the
Independence Events Center.
It was special playing in Missouri,
Langdon said of his days with
the Americans. You knew
the building was going to be
packed and there was going
to be a great atmosphere.
But I wasnt with Allen the
last two years, so I dont
have a ring.
I know there are
going to be a lot of
guys in the locker
room looking for
a ring, and thats
what this season
is going to be
about winning a
championship and
bringing the title to
the fans in Missouri.
Throughout hisprofessional career
Langdon has
totaled 17 goals,
62 assists and
764 penalty minutes in 367 games.
He also has been involved in 97
career fights and he said No. 100could be a doozy.
I like to mix it up on the ice, he
said, with an evil grin. Ill give the
fans their moneys worth.
Its easy to see why Matvichuk
went after Langdon.
Scott is a proven leader who has
been a captain on every team hes
been associated with, Matvichuk
said. He brings a physical presence
to the defensive core that I feel isneeded on the Mavericks.
And hes going to be committed
to the community. The fans are
going to love this guy.
Langdon said Allen has contacted
him about returning to the back-
to-back CHL championship team,
but he chose the Mavericks.
I just think the Mavericks have
what it takes to be a real contender
in the ECHL, he said. Coach
Matvichuk is so enthusiastic. I know
he and Brent (Thiessen president
and general manager) built a team
for the CHL, but this team can
compete in the ECHL.
If there there is any team that
doesnt take us seriously, theyre
going to be in for a shock. We have
some talent on this team.
And I know what a great place
the Mavericks have. Theyre a first-
class organization, have that greatsupport from the community. Weve
had a couple of opportunities to
meet the fans and they are great.
We havent even played a home
game, and theyre supporting us
at practice, coming out to meet
at us events in the community.
Everything I heard about the fans
and the Mavericks is true.
Bill Althaus is an award-winning
columnist and sports writer for The
Examiner. He is a past winner of the
CHLs Media Service Award and has
been the Mavericks beat writer since
they came to town in 2009. You can
