? The Challenge
ü The Solu8on
Complete Enterprise Middleware
ONLY company to ever build a complete middleware stack on-‐premises, in the cloud and on mobile devices.
SINGLE codebase for all products!
We help our customers become a
Connected Business
Breaking Down the Solu8on
ü Integra8on ü API Management ü Shadow IT ü Enterprise App Management ü Iden8ty and Access Management
Integra8on
Key Benefits
• Built on WSO2 Carbon plajorm: - Innova8ve componen8zed design – use as li9le or as much
capability as you need - Single code base – eliminate internal integra8on challenges as
you add capabili8es • Highest performance in its class • Rock solid enterprise stability scaling to billions of transac8ons/day • Easy to use -‐ configura8on-‐based design with visual tooling • 100% Apache license open source + world class support services
Case Study: eBay -‐ High performance middleware plajorm for online shopping
eBay was looking for a scalable middleware plajorm to connect their backend services with their main online portal .
Product
Challenge • eBay was looking to move away from a home-‐grown middleware solu8on
to an industry proven ESB. • The solu8on demanded a lightweight deployment model with flexibility
over ar8fact deployment, ESB node management and cluster administra8on.
• Benchmarked 10 ESBs proprietary and open source, and WSO2 ESB was the only product that supported their performance and manageability requirements.
SoluBon • A high availability ESB clusters capable of handling billions of transac8ons
per day (average 4-‐6 billion transac8ons per day right now – 2014) • Reduced Cost of Ownership compared to managing internally • Automated provisioning between Dev, QA, Integra8on and Produc8on
deployments. • Several pools of high-‐end WSO2 ESB servers provisioning one of three use
cases that support eBay’s various business func8ons: rou8ng, orchestra8on, and service chaining.
• eBay already has planned several future deployments with WSO2 including the use of REST gateway deployments and federated ESBs
API Management
Key Benefits
• The API economy: - APIs are key to enabling rich user experiences and device-‐independent
mobile applica8ons - Enable new business models by connec8ng with partners and/or the
worldwide developer community - Promote internal reuse and effec8ve governance of SOA
• API Store provides an elegant and customizable developer community portal to assist API discovery, reuse, and social feedback
• API Publisher provides governance over the publishing lifecycle • Lowest latency gateway based on WSO2 ESB • Centralized subscrip8on and authen8ca8on • Generate KPI alerts and deep analy8cs over API usage • Only open source solu8on in its class • Each major component (gateway, authen8ca8on, store, publisher) can be
individually scaled or deployed in separate security zones
Case Study: StubHub – Managing high volumes of data for viral businesses
StubHub needed an API centric architecture to become the worldwide des8na8on for an end-‐to-‐end experience for fans
Product Product
Challenge • StubHub was missing out on poten8al channel of new business revenue
with a looming compe88ve threat from industry peers and newcomers • The solu8on demanded the development of an API economy strategy, and
re-‐architec8ng a running business • There was a need for a scalable system, which while handling high volumes
of data, also has the ability to constantly evolve as an agile system • It had to not only be a product, but a plajorm that can leverage broad
third-‐party developers and businesses to thrive
SoluBon • A high performance and scalable API management solu8ons system that
can handle high volumes of traffic • A simple lifecycle model that can be customized and extended to align with
the company’s API strategies • WSO2’s integra8on suite not only exposes exis8ng capabili8es, but helps to
deploy new systems to maximize value, analyze, results, etc.
Shadow IT
Key Benefits • Holis8c solu8on to DevOps in the private or public cloud, which encompass the development, deployment, and hos8ng of applica8ons
• Increase developer agility and produc8vity with self-‐service access to development environment, QA environments, and produc8on deployment
• Automate project resource provisioning • Improved visibility and sharing of knowledge, APIs, project templates, best prac8ces • Integrates with tradi8onal and cloud-‐based IDEs (Codenvy) • A9ract shadow IT users into a plajorm with full governance, monitoring, and
economies of scale • Faster 8me to market with agile development and automated deployment • Full governance lifecycle and run8me monitoring – centralized analy8cs for the
en8re development cycle
Case Study: Trimble -‐ Transforming the way the world works through innova8ve solu8ons for various industries
Trimble was looking for a connected plajorm to link many stakeholders via complete centraliza8on
Product
SoluBon • A centralized Trimble Plajorm as a Service (TPaaS), consis8ng of
various components available as a service including iden8ty, audi8ng, transforma8on and rou8ng
• Each division, partner and dealer is a tenant in the mul8-‐tenanted plajorm.
• Each division has autonomy in crea8ng flexible solu8ons that use the TPaaS components under their specific tenants.
Challenge • Trimble has a large number of divisions that cater to various ver8cals • Each division has its own set of applica8ons and customers, resul8ng
in a diverse set of applica8ons and technologies • A unified mechanism was required to service dealers, partners and
customers of Trimble, whilst increasing division autonomy, technology management and reducing 8me to market
Enterprise App Management
It’s like a catalogue!
Key Benefits
• Controlled access to several web applica8ons for many users in an organiza8on
• Efficiently and accurately distribute apps • Carefully distribute licenses and track versions • Connect be9er to employees • IT Insights: Understand app usage • Prevent data loss • Shared authen8ca8on • Centralized authoriza8on • Centralized access -‐ single access point for all apps • Social engagement -‐ rate, comment about apps • Self Service Enterprise App • U8lizes SAML 2 SSO, XACML Policy Defini8on, Oauth secured API
invoca8ons
Case Study: Boeing – Enhancing the management of applica8ons and customers
SoluBon • A plajorm that can create suppor8ng profitability through integra8on
between airline and OEM data • A solu8on based on open architecture and modular design • Reusable app services and a plajorm to leverage analy8cs to improve
opera8on • Unified user experience across dis8nct func8onal modules (i.e. Fleet,
Material services) • Highly extensible architecture capable of driving strategy, people, process
and tools
Challenge • Help airlines convert all the silo, non-‐standard data into common data
formats that can be shared in a variety of ways • Ability to interface with a wide set of of Legacy, stove-‐pipe data and
applica8ons • A plajorm that can scale under high volumes of data whilst suppor8ng real
8me performance op8miza8ons
Products
‘The Boeing Edge’; a PaaS solu8on to reshape the way Boeing connects with its customers
Iden8ty and Access Management
Key Benefits
• Lightweight -‐ low memory footprint • Important part of WSO2 Plajorm • Ability to seamlessly connect with relevant technologies to provide
necessary iden8ty federa8on • Extensibility -‐ can work with mul8ple extensions
Case Study: Al-‐ELM – Managing Iden88es and Ensuring Secure Online Transac8ons
Al-‐ELM was looking to implement a system that would streamline administra8on, improve produc8vity, and reduce costs
Product
Challenge • The growth of the Unemployment Assistance Program; the original project
covered one program that enabled unemployed ci8zens to submit their requests
• The Saudi government expanded the services to include several programs, which prompted the need to streamline administra8on to manage 4 million user iden88es
SoluBon • The WSO2 Iden8ty Server proved to be the most flexible and customizable
solu8on for ELM • Since implemen8ng single sign-‐on (SSO) through WSO2 Iden8ty Server, ELM
has been able to significantly streamline the administra8on of user iden88es, as well as improve overall user experience The benefits also include improved produc8vity, increased security, centralized management, and reduced cost
• In produc8on since April 2013, the program SSO system manages about 4 million users with 2,000 login requests per second
