Often we worry about the pastand what we might have done.

All the time knowing there’snothing we can do to change it.

Since we can’t change the past, let us then look to the future.

MANY BRAHMAN BREEDERS ARE LOOKING TO THE FUTURE.

They’re producing the kind of cattlethat will produce better beef:

Brahmans that will produce profitably for the commercial producer

who eventually buys our cattle.

These breeders are continuously improving their herds and promoting their breed.

They are the breed builders - these forward-looking individuals.

And they are the ones who will succeed bestin this purebred cattle business.

The purpose of an association is to stimulate and coordinate efforts to produce superior cattle. We appreciate and support them.

But, remember, a breed is built by those who plan the matings, tag the calves, carry the

pitchforks, and pour out the feed.

YOU ARE A BREED BUILDER. WE ARE A BREED BUILDER.

AND TOGETHER, WE ARE SHAPING THE FUTURE OF

THE BRAHMAN BREED.

Each year, V8 sells nearly 200 Brahman bulls, primarily to be used in commercial herds where Brahman influence is needed to improve heat tolerance and hybrid vigor. V8 bulls are known to be high quality bulls with excellent pedigrees, documented performance, and breeding guarantees.

When a potential buyer comes to V8 Ranch, they are given a wealth of information to help in their purchasing decision. First, they evaluate the individual bulls. They also have the opportunity to see the bulls mother, father, and usually full siblings. They also evaluate pedigree and performance data on the individual bulls.

All sale bulls undergo a 112-day bull test which gives individual data on each bull’s performance. The ranch uses this information to cater to both international and domestic bull buyers to find the perfect bull to fit their environment and needs.

“The main purpose for the test is for us to find higher performing cattle in our herd,” says Cutrer. “With the program, we keep improving the quality of our cattle and stay one step ahead of the game.”

Bulls Sorted at Weaning At weaning, our bulls are sorted into three

different groups. The highest quality bulls go to our show barn, where they will be considered to be retained as a V8 herd bull with semen marketed.

“Exhibiting our highest quality bulls at major livestock shows gives us an opportunity to show off our cattle to fellow breeders and the general public. It helps people know that when they see a V8, it means quality,” says Cutrer.

The second group is considered the highest quality bulls and are sold to fellow Brahman breeders or commercial cattlemen. To be in this group, a bull must have good conformation, a good disposition, and a low birth weight.

The third group are bulls with a questionable disposition or a high birth weight. These cattle are castrated, dehorned and vaccinated on a VAC-45

birthweight, gentle bulls with good carcass traits.

We have a reputation for good bulls here at V8, and we’re proud to be one of the nation’s top seedstock providers of quality, gentle, high performing Brahman bulls. Our #1 business is the

Every sale bull at V8 has documented performance data, disposition scores, and ultrasound results.

program and are then sent to a feed yard for data collection. While they are culls, they are still important, as the carcass and performance data generated from this group holds values that can be used by the ranch for future breeding decisions.

V8 Bull TestOnce the bulls are sorted, sale bulls begin a 112-day bull test.

Throughout the test, bulls are fed a Purina Accuration. V8 does not push these cattle in terms of feed, because we feel that bulls who are “too fat” will do more harm than a bull on the thin side.

Every 28 days the bulls are brought to the barn to be weighed, measured, and evaluated for disposition. The ranch keeps a running total on average daily gains to monitor each bull’s performance.

“One thing I’ve noticed is that the disposition scores will get better each time we bring the bulls up,” says Brandon. “The cattle get calmer and are used to being worked around people. This is an added benefit to our customers, because we can ensure that we are selling bulls that are easy to handle.”

On the last day of the test, a certified ultrasound technician scans the bulls for marbling and rib eye area. This information is conveyed to the American Brahman Breeders Association to aid in calculating carcass EPDs, and the individual information is available to clients.

“We have been really impressed on how well our bulls and cattle have done in terms of marbling,” says Cutrer. “We have identified certain bloodlines that marble better and other bloodlines that produce a larger rib eye.” This gives us fact-based data of what each bull has done performance-wise, and what he has the potential to do carcass-wise in his offspring.

Forage-Based Development After the TestAfter the test, the bulls are placed on a 30 acre grass pasture

and kept on a forage based diet to ease them back into the tougher metabolic condition. This is the ranch’s way to prepare them to go to new homes. When a customer comes to purchase one of these bulls, they will be seeing the same bull in their pasture that they saw on the ranch.

“You won’t see a V8 bull who’s so fat he melts once you put him out with the cows,” explains Cutrer.

Research Showcases V8 Lines with High Marbling V8 Ranch has been an early adopter of utilizing carcass

ultrasound measurements as a tool for determining the carcass merit of our cattle. With more than 80 percent of our live cattle sales going to the commercial cattleman, we feel it is extremely important to be able to document our cattle’s performance in all sectors and to be able to provide this data to our clientele.

Over the past two years, we have scanned more than 150 head of purebred Brahman cattle. Additionally, we have retained ownership of more than 100 head of purebred Brahman steers to provide more data on our major sire lines and female lines.

As time reveals more information and data, we have been extremely impressed with the findings. In total, 58 percent of the cattle scanned equaled the measurements for USDA Choice. Every animal in the group also had a REA/CWT of 1.0 or higher. The average rump fat measurement was .22 and the average back fat measurement was .18.

In 2010, we began participating in the ABBA Carcass Evaluation Program to identify carcass traits in purebred Brahman

cattle. Steers are fed at Graham Land & Cattle and harvested at Kane Beef. V8 Ranch receives complete data on the cattle which helps us identify our sires that produce offspring with the best carcass traits. V8 Ranch is proud to have the largest number of cattle in the program and to be leading the breed efforts in providing data back to the ABBA for use in calculating Brahman carcass EPDs. We believe in sharing this information not only with our clients but our breed association as well, to help aid in the betterment of the breed.

“When we began retaining ownership on our purebred Brahman steers, I’ll admit, it was something different for the ranch,” reflects Cutrer. “We were used to selling all of our cull bulls at weaning at the auction barn, but we have been really pleased with the results, and been able to realize a net profit of anywhere from $175 to $300 a head through retaining ownership.”

Demand for Brahman Cattle Extremely HighV8 has noticed over the past few years that the popularity of

Brahman cattle has increased, as more cattleman are looking for cattle that can handle the heat and drought conditions, yet still have desirable carcass traits.

“We are seeing a lot of interest from Angus and Hereford breeders in the Southeast who are realizing that they need a little Brahman blood in their herds,” says Cutrer. “They like coming to V8 because they can get bulls that are still high quality but also have some carcass background behind them.”

While serving new markets, V8 continues to see strong demand for their bulls to international clients in Mexico, Central America and South America. “No one wants our bulls to perform as well as we do,” says Cutrer. “V8 Ranch has a reputation for good bulls and we are proud to be a top seedstock provider of quality, gentle, high performing bulls.”

Cow families - to us - are the most important thing. Some people linebreed to a bull, we linebreed to cow families. You get more uniformity, and more consistency. Even on our great sires...we think what makes them great is the cow family they came from. Our goal is to focus on those great cow families and just keep punching out that

Cow Power-Jim Williams

In the modern breeding program of V8 Ranch, it’s no surprise that the majority of our herd can be traced back to less than 10 key cow families. Here is a brief history of each of those cow families as a reference guide.

+Miss V8 4/5 is a daughter of (+)WR Mr. Suva 203, and like many Suva daughters, she had that gorgeous blue pigment, feminine eye appeal, and maternal excellence. In the mid-1990s, Sloan and his good friend Bobby Dickens of Lazy D Farm in Mississippi made a deal on +Miss V8 4/5, where the Dickens would be partners with us on this top young female. She is easily the impact cow of the Lazy D Farms, and today B.J. Dickens estimates that 90% of the Lazy D herd traces back to the great 4/5 cow family. For the Dickens, +Miss V8 4/5 produced Mr. LD 36/8, a championship show bull for Lazy D Farms throughout the southeast, who stood 2nd in class at Houston behind Superstroke. Here at V8, she produced 4 Register of Renown daughters: +Miss V8 552/6, +Miss V8 933/5, +Miss V8 752/5 and

+Miss V8 14/6. This is the largest number of direct Register of Renown daughters of any cow at V8 Ranch, and to our knowledge, the entire Brahman breed. Significant V8 herd bulls from this cow family include Mr. V8 960/5 and Mr. V8 977/6. 4/5 has been a staple of our herd for nearly 20 years, and lives on through the excellent production of her donor daughters and sons.

+Miss V8 4/5

The cornerstone of our polled program. At the 2003 All American, Jim mentioned to Rachel that the ranch had sold an outstanding polled female to a junior who was graduating from high school and did not want to continue to show. Jim suggested Rachel buy the heifer, and that heifer was +Miss V8 98/6. From there, 98 set on a path to re-write modern polled Brahman history. Her influence has proved that polled cattle can compete at any level. In 2004 her flush was the high selling flush of the Houston sale. She produced the highly acclaimed donor daughter +Miss V8 797/6 (S), one of our top donors at the present time. The 98 cow family produced the 2010 National Champion Female and 2012 Reserve National Champion Female, as well as three of the best polled Brahman bulls in the world today: Mr.

V8 279/7, Mr. V8 135/7 and Mr. V8 139/7. The 98 cow family represents quality all around, whether you are seeking polled genetics or not. Hands down, the most accomplished polled cow family in the United States in terms of quality, marketability, and dollars generated.

“The Champion Maker”. 1993 International Champion Female and one of the highest-valued Brahman females in the history of ABBA, with 1/2 interest in this great cow selling to Nelson Ruesche of San Rafael Ranch for $100,000.

+Miss V8 165/4, born in 1990, is a prime example of the many outstanding daughters produced by +Mr. V8 666/3 in the early to mid-1990s. These females were very powerful females that we often refer to as the kind of cows that are “herd bull makers.” While we would never under-value the importance of a great sire, we truly believe it’s the power of cow families that make the great ones. The dam of +Miss V8 165/4 is +Lady Bevo 910, who is from the Herman Beville herd. Our good friend Marcus Shackelford was extremely familiar with

the Beville herd and he had identified 910 as the top heifer out of their herd. He and Sloan picked out the heifer and bought her to go to the V8 herd.

165 produced many notable offspring including +Miss V8 73/5, a (+)JDH Charley Manso 590/6 daughter who was International Champion in 1997 and went on to be a phenomenal producer for Alice Heitman of Horsegate Ranch. V8 Ranch had the opportunity to flush +Miss V8 73/5 and her mating to Superstroke gave us the outstanding flushmates +Miss V8 38/6 and Mr. V8 730/5 “Tomcat.” Tomcat was purchased by Satterfield Ranch, and went on to be named International Champion Bull in 2004. Another direct daughter of +Miss V8 165/4 is +Miss V8 780/5, the 2001 International Champion Female sired by +Mr. V8 901/4. She also has been a top producer for us, with nearly 50 offspring recorded in ABBA. She is also a Register of Renown female. Another interesting descendant from this cow family is +KF Progeny’s Success 40/0, who is the foundation herd bull for Carolyn Falgout. Carolyn purchased this embryo from the San Rafael Ranch dispersal, and he has been the backbone of her program, including being named ABBA Show Bull of the Year in 2002 and 2003 and producing many champions for her farm. Progeny’s Success is a bull that has been used in both red and grey herds, and is also the sire of the 2010 and 2011 Red Show Bull of the Year, Carolyn’s “Dozer” bull.

+Miss 3X Mucho Grande 60/5 “Miss Priss”Daughter +Miss V8 287/3 and granddaughter $Miss V8 910/4

In the history of the Brahman breed, there are 12 females to carry the elite title of “Vanguard,” meaning they are both Register of Renown and Maternal Merit. This is a female that excels in show ring accomplishments and production. V8 proudly claims $Miss V8 910/4 as one of these elite females. 910 is the mother of +Miss V8 228/6, one of our current leading donors on the ranch, however the story goes way back...and it’s a pretty awesome story.

This cow family began with +Miss 3X Mucho Grande 60/5, the very popular 1978 Reserve National Champion female owned by Emily Dial of 3X Ranch. 60/5 was a beautiful Guzerat type, dark pigmented, extremely gentle cow nicknamed “Miss Priss”. Emily sold 60/5 in one of Johnny Joyce’s great sales for the record breaking price of $25,000, and was purchased by Stephanie & Bill Vineyard of Kirvin, Texas. Stephanie & Bill had bought over 100 females from 3X, but had to get out of the Brahman business for personal reasons. The Vineyards had also been clients of V8 Ranch, and knew how much we loved the Brahman business. Stephanie called Jim, and offered him to come pick any of her 3X cows for $1750 each. Jim knew Stephanie owned +Miss 3X Mucho Grande 60/5, who she called “Miss Priss.” Jim told Stephanie that he knew she paid $25,000 for the cow, but that he just couldn’t afford $25,000. Stephanie said, “No, Jim, Miss Priss is included for the $1,750 just like all of the other cows.” Stephanie loved Miss Priss and wanted her to go to a good home. Jim bought Miss Priss and took her straight to the front pasture at V8, where she spent lots of evenings getting pet by Jim & Luann’s daughters, who loved Miss Priss because she was so gentle, and so pretty. We bred Miss Priss to the greatest bulls we could, and her matings to +JDH Mr. Rha Ely Manso 615 gave us the exceptional +Miss V8 287/3. This female proved to be one of our all time greatest donors, producing breed legends like +Mr. V8 901/4, +Mr. V8 900/4, 2 Register of Renown donor daughters, and $Miss V8 910/4, V8’s Vanguard. And to think it all began with a friend offering Jim “Miss Priss” to us for $1,750, because she knew V8 would give her a good home, which we certainly did. We feel certain that today, more than 30 years later, both Stephanie and Emily would be proud of the impact this grand cow, +Miss 3X Mucho Grande, made at V8 Ranch, and the Brahman breed worldwide.

During the 1980s, Brangus breeder and Texas oilman Clayton Williams had established an elite herd of Brahman cattle. He hosted a special event sale during Houston in 1988, and we purchased +Ms Claydesta 203 807U5, daughter of Suva and the famous National Champion Diamond T 432 cow, for $5000. When Claydesta was bred to V8 herd bulls like +Mr. V8 700/3 and (+)JDH Charley Manso 590/6, it made magic. 807U5 was the foundation for one of the winningest cow families in the history of V8 Ranch, including generating more than $750,000 in progeny sales. Claydesta’s famed daughter is +Miss V8 188/5, sired by +Mr. V8 700/3. She is a feminine, deep bodied, level topped Brahman female who is loaded with muscle and productive power. She is one of two cows at V8 to produce two different International Champion daughters, those being Miss V8 831/5 and Miss V8 464/6. +Miss V8 80/5 is another legendary daughter of Claydesta 807U5. This Charley daughter is a superior donor for V8 Ranch and Satterfield Ranch, with 99 progeny recorded in ABBA.

The Claydesta 807U5 influence and 188/5 influence today is carried on by our exquisite young donor +Miss V8 464/6, the 2007 International Champion Female and 2008 World Brahman Congress Champion Female. Her two powerhouse herd bull sons Mr. V8 191/7 and Mr. V8 194/7 earned her the 2013 National Champion ET Produce of Dam and the 2014 International Champion Produce of Dam. Mr. V8 191/7 was the 2014 Reserve International Champion Bull. 464/6 produced the high selling lot of the 2014 Houston Sale.

+Ms Claydesta 203-807U5Daughter +Miss V8 188/5 and granddaughter +Miss V8 464/6

If you ask Jim Williams to name his top three all time favorite cows on the ranch, chances are he is going to include +Miss V8 495/5 “Rose” as one of those three. In fact, it was Jim who gave her the name “Rose” because of her red tinged color. Born in 1997, she died in summer 2012 but throughout her life she was the female that we felt was “the most beautiful cow on the ranch.” Rose is one of our three Register of Renown daughters out of the JDH Mr. Manso 288/1 bull, who was a Forgason-bred son of (+)JDH Dakota Manso 599.

While searching through our archives, we found a copy of our 2000 Power of Production Sale, where we offered a flush in Rose as Lot 3. Back in 2000, Jim had written in the sale catalog the words, “This red-tinged female has been a personal favorite of mine

since birth. I know she can produce a great one!” Legendary cattleman Bob Massey purchased the flush in Rose for $8000, and he produced many exceptional daughters from this flush. Fast forward to 2014. Rose is now considered one of the major female lines impacting V8 Ranch today. She produced the 2005 Reserve International Champion Female, +Miss V8 209/6. 209/6 produced 2 donor daughters, our herd bull and 2009 National Champion, Mr. V8 463/6. Cattle from the Rose cow family are characterized by lots of volume, lots of style, and lots of maternal excellence. She has more than 50 progeny recorded in the ABBA. Pretty good prediction there Jim.

+Miss V8 495/5 “Rose”

V8 Ranch has a reputation for breeding grey Brahman cattle with a lot of pigment. In fact, if you hear us refer to pigment in Brahmans, it’s usually accompanied by the word “beautiful” because we do think it’s beautiful. And, +Miss V8 571/3 is the cow that really gave us that combination of pigment and style. As we visit many breeders herds that have V8 breeding, they’ll always say “we have a beautiful dark pigmented heifer that has V8 in her pedigree,” and we can usually predict it stems from 571/3.

+Miss V8 571/3 produced two exceptional daughters, +Miss V8 600/4 “Whitney” and +Miss V8 606/5. Whitney is probably one of our all time most famous show heifers. She is a 2-time “All American” grand champion and was the 1995 Reserve International Champion.

Her influence was a significant impact in our herd as well as the Roberto Canahuati herd in Honduras. +Miss V8 606/5 is known for her outstanding daughters, the International Championship duo +Miss V8 143/6 and Miss V8 144/6. These females carry the legacy of lots of depth of body, thick tops, and breathtaking style and pigment. This segment of the 571 cow family brings us the two top herd sires, Mr. V8 675/6 and Bull Eye’s herd sire Mr. V8 670/6.

V8 Ranch - 13

#1 cow in the ABBA Register of Renown. +Miss V8 617/2 is one of the longest-spanning cow families of success here at V8 Ranch. When 617/2 was born, she was one of the best heifers we had ever raised, and we were eager to get her on the show circuit to see how she would fare. At that time, you couldn’t show May heifers in the open shows, but you could show May babies in the newly-formed American Junior Brahman Association and Texas Junior Brahman Association shows. Also, since the All American was a brand-new show, it did not have any ownership or possession date requirements either. So, good friends Max Watts and Jim & Sloan

Williams started collaborating. Max’s daughter, Tammie Watts, was known as the super showman of the junior Brahman circuit, and so the Watts family took 617 to Frost, Texas where Tammie and 617/2 were either champion or reserve at the 1980 TJBA State Show as a May calf! (Hey, it’s been over 30 years, we’re getting old, we can’t quite remember the exact award!) After the All American, 617 came back to V8, where she and Dave Sagebiel were constant winners in the show ring. She won back-to-back Reserve National Championships, and interestingly was named Grand Champion Brahman Female at the 1981 North American International Livestock Exposition in Louisville, Kentucky. Her first calf, Miss V8 888/2 was named National Champion in 1984.

In our 1986 “Visions of the Future” sale, we sold a flush in 617/2, which was purchased by Clayton Williams. He flushed 617 to Mr. V8 202/3. Later, when Clayton Williams dispersed his herd, he sold two 1-month old, unbranded Brahman calves from the 617 x 202 flush. Jim and Luann Williams purchased the heifer, who would be branded +Miss V8 666/3, for $10,000. This investment would ultimately result in producing Powerstroke and Superstroke.

The bull was purchased by Bernardo Vega for $9800. Bernardo, a Colombian, was a trusted friend and customer, and he bought the bull sight-unseen based on Jim’s recommendation. That bull was branded +Mr. V8 666/3 to match his sister. Another full sister, Miss V8 725/3 “Amber” was also on the show string. +Miss V8 666/3 was named Grand Champion Female at Dallas in 1989. +Mr. V8 666/3 was named 1990 National Champion Bull. Amber was the 1990 All American Champion, 1990 National Champion, and 1991 International Champion Female.

+Miss V8 666/3 has 61 progeny recorded in the ABBA, and is quite simply, a herd bull maker. Her mating to Mr. V8 702/3 produced the National Champion Bull, Mr. V8 440/4. Another flush with the same mating produced +Mr. V8 777/4 “Powerstroke.”

Powerstroke was one of the best V8 herd bulls of the 1990s, and is very popular in many herds today. Powerstroke sired +Mr. V8 287/5 “Superstroke,”who sired six undefeated Houston Get-of-Sire Championships. Superstroke’s daughters were legendary producers., and it was a Superstroke daughter who produced our current highest profile sire, +Mr. V8 380/6.

National Champions In the Same Year (1990)

The +Miss V8 983/3 cow family has been one that has been a mainstay at V8 Ranch since the early 1990s. Through the years, this cow family has earned their place in V8 record books for being consistent producers of high quality in all aspects: show ring, production, and to the commercial cattleman. What makes this cow family stand out? Consistency and uniformity. +Miss V8 983/3 is a daughter of JDH Sir Julio Manso and a Suva daughter. She is a very feminine, dark pigmented, moderate framed female with an extremely clean underline who crossed extremely well with Powerstroke and Superstroke lines. Through our early ET program in the 1990s she produced more than 50 progeny, including standouts like +Mr. V8 700/4, a herd bull for Collins Brahman Ranch as well as many donor daughters for V8 Ranch.

In the early 2000s we flushed the great old +Miss V8 983/3 to Superstroke, who was our leading young herd bull at that time. This mating produced the exceptional Mr. V8 815/5 “Tommy Bahama” herd bull. Tommy is owned by V8, Windy Hill and the Canahuati family from Honduras. He has made a big impact in all three of these ranches, primarily by being known as a great female producer who gives you dark pigmented calves that can work for red or grey programs. +Miss V8 653/5 would have to be the most significant daughter of +Miss V8 983/3. She is the mother of The Rock as well as the mother of current V8 donor female Miss V8 997/5.

Mr. V8 85/7, “Ocho Cinco” is one of our most exciting young herd bull prospects, and he has been a standout throughout his show career. This is a bull who is sired by the Mexican import, #JADL Rey TE 110, who we like for his conformation as well as his Madison x Powerstroke pedigree. When we purchased a limited amount of semen on El Rey, we selectively mated it to the best possible cows on the ranch. We feel this mating with +Miss V8 410/6 was a great choice, as it produced Mr. V8 85/7 and his full sister Miss V8 463/7 who is the 2011 Reserve National Champion. We have already collected Ocho Cinco and have AI’d and flushed several top cows to him. We think he is a bull with a lot of performance, muscle expression, and power. He ranks in the top 1% of the breed for weaning weight and yearling weight. We look forward to his influence. Owned with John Milton Torres of Ecuador and The Sullins Family of Texas.

Mr. V8 135/7 “The Butler” is a bull that we love for his balance, moderation, and muscle. He excelled in the show ring as a class winner at the 2012 National Brahman Show, and a class winner and Reserve Junior Champion at the 2012 Kickoff Classic. Mr. V8 135/7 very moderate framed, deep bodied, totally balanced, and very complete. He is structurally sound and very muscular, especially for a polled bull. Owned with Butler Polled Brahmans. Both owners used this bull heavily through AI and natural service with the first calves hitting the ground in spring 2014. We are very pleased and will continue to use this bull to move our polled programs forward. “The Butler” was also our top selling semen sire to our Australian clients in the spring of 2014.

Mr. V8 139/7 is always a favorite of those who visit the ranch, especially our international friends and those interested in progressive polled programs. As a full brother to The Butler, we like both of the bulls equally well because they can be bred to lots of different type of females depending on what different breeders need. 139 is very long bodied bull with high performance and a lot of eye appeal and power. Compared to The Butler, he has higher carcass ultrasound measurements with a 3.69 %IMF and 12.63 REA. Many progressive Brahman breeders worldwide have sought out 139 to use in their programs. Brazilian semen rights are owned by Bruno and Helen Jacintho, who collected over 1000 units of semen to use on their herd in Brazil. Australian breeders Bulloak Brahmans selected 139 to add to their polled program and are highly anticipating his first calves. We are partners with Southern Cattle Company on this bull in the United States. We bred 139 in the summer 2014 to the group of cows we purchased from D Bar Ranch and are excited at that mating. Semen is available in all countries except Australia or Brazil.

Nicknamed “Gator” in honor of his owner Tommy Stoddard of Louisiana. Gator is an extremely popular bull both in the United States and globally. After retiring from the V8 show string in March 2014, he sold out of his initial public semen offering in less than a week. After a spring of collecting at the bull stud and now being in service at the Stoddards, he is available in both the USA and globally with no restrictions.

Many people saw Gator at Houston and were immediately impressed with his color and eye appeal. He is a jet black bull with a lot of pigment. He is also extremely thick, heavy muscled, and solid beef. His pedigree combined with his dark candidate also make him an ideal candidate to breed on red cows as well.

Gator represents the Rose cow family, and is out of +Miss V8 209/6, the 2005 Reserve International Champion Female. His first calves will be arriving in 2015.

#4 Top Selling V8 Semen Sire Worldwide in 2014, with his semen only being on the market for 3 months. A very bright young herd sire prospect who’s first calf crop has us nothing short of speechless. While he was being named 2014 Reserve International Champion at Houston, his first calves were hitting the ground back at the ranch and they are outstanding. Powerful, thick, eye appealing, and gentle. We are putting a lot of stock in this bull’s breeding ability for the future.

It’s no surprise that 191 has what it takes to be a great herd sire. Great bulls come from great cow families. His dam is the phenomenal Miss V8 464/6 from the famed Claydesta cow family. His full brother, Mr. V8 194/7 was also a very consistent class and division winner throughout his show career. A tremendous young herd sire with a stellar pedigree, outstanding performance data, and purple ribbons to back up his visual quality. He started his show career as calf champion at the 2012 After winning Calf Champion at the 2012 International Brahman Show and ended it as Reserve Senior Champion at the 2013 National Brahman Show.

But it’s not the purple banners that excite us about 194, it’s his carcass merit and performance. He was the highest scanning bull of his calf crop for % IMF (marbling). Mr. V8 194/7 is a bull that we are really looking forward to breeding because of this combination of outstanding phenotype, a great pedigree, and high marbling. We will be breeding him to several females in the upcoming year. He is a very structurally correct, long bodied, level topped bull with eye appeal. Owned with Southern Cattle Company.

Mr. V8 203/6, though never a show bull, is a consistent sire of quality cattle. He brings a lot of traits to the commercial industry that can improve many herds. He’s a light birth weight bull with a different pedigree compared to today’s more popular bloodlines of V8 and JDH, making him a bull that works on females with a V8 380/6, V8 901/4, Karu, Superstroke, Liberty or Woodson bloodlines. He is also a great carcass bull - as of August 2014 every single calf he sired at V8 has scanned over 4.0 for %IMF (USDA Choice). He is ranked in the top 3% of the entire Brahman breed for marbling and tenderness. He is GeneSTAR tested in the top 10% of all breeds for feed efficiency. He is the sire of Mr. V8 675/6, one of our top young herd bulls. His dam is one of our most prolific ET donors, with 87 calves registered in ABBA. She is a daughter of +Miss V8 165/4, a former International and National Champion who produced 3 International Champions. #3 Top Selling Semen Sire Worldwide in 20141998 International Champion Bull. If you asked any elite

Brahman breeder worldwide, chances are they would say that during the course of the last 15 years, they’ve had success using +Mr. V8 901/4. The reason 901 works so well is because he is a light birth weight sire and one of the most eye appealing, structurally correct sires in the breed. Consistency is his best quality; His offspring are easy fleshing, good-doing cattle that are very merchandisable. +Mr. V8 901/4 daughters make great cows that work well with many different sire lines. Even today, there are numerous 901 offspring in the V8 show string and on the ABBA show circuit with other breeders because of his dependability. He is the sire of the 2013 International Champion Female and 2013 All American Champion Female, as well as numerous other recent winners. Even today, we continually use 901 as our “go to bull” for siring consistent quality. Owned with Windy Hill Ranch.

An outside acquisition purchased in summer 2011 from J.D. Hudgins. There are two big things we love about Cannon: his awesome pedigree and his depth of body. He is a muscular meat wagon and probably one of the deepest bulls we have seen in a long time. His pedigree stems from some of Hudgins’ Division greats. We love the Josiah bull, who is out of the famed Houston champion, Annisa Manso, who Jim made grand champion at San Antonio when she was shown for the very first time as a calf. His dam is JDH Lady Red Bay Manso, who we pictured in 2011 when we went down to Kyle & Tom’s in Bay City to look at his dam before we purchased Cannon. She is a very thick, deep bodied, strong topped female with the typical look you would expect from a Liberty daughter. So in all, he is a blend of Josiah, Elliott, Dakota, Liberty, Remington, and double bred Madison.

Very rarely do we purchase outside herd bulls at V8, but when we do, we tend to select bulls from the Hudgins bloodline that would be outcrosses to our typical matings. The addition of the Avery bloodline proved to be a valuable decision in producing quality females with show appeal. This Liberty son also features Datapack and Elliott in his bloodline, and is one of the best sheathed Liberty sons in the breed. His first calf crop put him in the ABBA Register of Renown. He sired the 2010 ABBA Show Heifer of the Year, 2009 International Champion Female, 2009 International Champion Get-of-Sire, and the 2009 National Champion Get-of-Sire. More importantly, we are especially pleased with the performance and production of his daughters. Avery daughters are some of our best producers, have beautiful udders, and are some of the highest egg producers in our embryo program. We lost Avery in the summer of 2011, but we have two sons, Mr. V8 614/6 and Mr. V8 620/6 to carry on the Avery bloodline at V8 and worldwide. These two full brothers are out of the National Champion cow, +JDH Marri Holly Manso 50/6 and are full brothers to the famous Miss V8 954/6 show heifer.

48 - V8 Ranch

V8 Ranch is one of the most celebrated ranch in Brahman breed history, being the breeder of more National Grand Champions, more International Grand

Champions, and more All American Grand Champions than any other ranch since ABBA’s formation in 1924.

This is a huge accomplishment in itself, but even more impressive when you factor in that V8 Ranch did not win it’s first national championship until 1976 and it’s first international championship until 1984.

Another proud accomplishment is the fact that while we are the breeder of these champions, many times it is our customers who enjoyed the spotlight of success. Several of our champions in open shows are cattle that we have sold to fellow breeders, and that makes us just as happy as if we would have been the ones at the halter on that day.

Over the past 40 years V8 Ranch has established their place in Brahman history as being known as the elite ranch of champions. While the show ring is not our first priority, it is a testament to the quality of our program, our breeding, and our vision for excellence.

Seedstock Producers.Commercial Roots.

V8 Ranch is known worldwide as an elite seedstock producer, but we’re also commercial producers, with more than 50 years of making a living in the commercial cattle business. So we don’t just claim to understand what the commercial cattleman wants....we know, because we use our bulls too! Ranch owners Sloan & Mollie Williams are commercial producers at heart. In the hey-days of their herd they operated over 10,000 head of commercial cattle spread all across Texas. Today, they own and manage a commercial herd of 1,400 females which are part of our Brahman F-1 program. These Brahman influence females are used in a three-breed rotation mated to Angus and Hereford bulls to create Brahman F1s. The resulting offspring are then bred to Charolais and Angus bulls for terminal crosses. We also use bulls from our Shorthorn program crossed with Brahman cows for replacement recip cows for their docility, milk and fertility.

When commercial bull buyers come to look at V8 bulls, we can easily show them our own herd as a practical example of how our cattle perform in a crossbreeding program. We also market our own commercial cattle at auction barns, special sales, sell to the feedlot, and retain ownership on our own steers depending on the market. So, when you buy a bull or a group of females from V8 to go into an F1 program, we know what you need...because we do it ourselves every day of the year!

True, many people know us for our accomplishments in the show ring. That’s natural, because those are high profile accomplishments. While the show ring is an advertising tool, we make our living in the BEEF business, not the show ring.
