Feel free to stop by our offices to have your questions answered or to pick up flyers and pamphlets from our information table located in the front hallway upstairs in Laulima building. Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young. - Henry Ford University Center, Maui is hosting another event for all distance learning students currently in UH Hilo, UH Manoa, and UH West Oahu programs supported by the Center! The social will be on Wednesday, April 16th, 2014, from 5:30pm - 7:30pm in Laulima 212 on the UH Maui College campus. Last fall semester was our first-ever student event! This was a chance for students to connect and included a panel of distance learning students sharing their experiences and tips for success. This semester we are bringing in an expert on job placement and career-planning. Cheryl Rietz is currently the Career Counselor for UH Maui College. She has planned a fun assessment activity to help you find the right career. The event is also an opportunity to interact with students in the same program and campus. Activities will include: * A short workshop on career planning * A chance for socialization (Food ! Music ! Mingling !) * Updates on tools, resources, and support services for distance learning students Meeting and interacting with other students can widen your support base and give you access to more resources to succeed. We look forward to seeing you there! As always, we welcome feedback, comments, and suggestions on how UH Center can better serve our students.

UH ManoaWelcome, Kehau Newhouse!

Kimberley Kehaulani Newhouse is the Program Coordiantor/Advisor for the University of Hawaii Manoa Outreach College on Maui. She supports students in the Inter-disciplinary Studies program and assists neighbor island students interested in transferring to Manoa.

Kehau became part of the University Center team in November 2013 bringing over six years of experience from UH Maui College.

Kehau is located in Laulima 219 and is available to anyone interested in transferring into Interdisciplinary Studies. She invites you to meet with her to start planning and get informa-tion and advice.

UH HiloThe University of Hawaii at Hilo is currently in the process of assessing offerings in its distance education programs. If you have not spoken to your advisor recently we suggest you stop by the UH Center offices for an update.

We want to make sure you are on track to completing your degree. Please let us know if you have any questions.

UH West Oahu UHWO held Group Advising Sessions at UH Maui College on Thursday and Friday, April 3 – 4, 2014.

Counselors Irene Morrow and Summer Debruyne provided 20 minute personal advising appointments, as well as several group advising sessions for new students.

More than 30 students took advantage of these sessions and met to discuss their education plans and goals.

The advisors hope to be back next Fall semester to meet with students again. In the mean-time, please feel free to call them for appointments or with questions at 1-866-299-8656 or via email at [email protected]
