37 | P a g e Property of World Triathlon Corp. IRONMAN
The first leg is the swim in which we will have approx. 1850 athletes start the race in a time trial format. They
will swim a single lap around a buoy marked course with lifeguards and medical staff on hand in watercraft and
on the beach.
The second leg of the race will be the bike leg where the athletes will exit the water once finished with the swim
and mount their bikes and ride the designated bike course. Upon completion of the bike portion they will
dismount their bike and run on a designated course out along the Boulder Reservoir Dam road and connecting
roads and back to the finish line located next to clubhouse at the Boulder Reservoir swim beach.
We will have uniformed police officers to direct and stop vehicular traffic for the athletes to proceed without
stopping. They will allow the athletes to pass through the intersections and in turn allow the vehicular traffic
when it is safe and there is space between athletes. This is a race and officers are to allow the athlete to
compete. Athletes are using an open course and will be sharing the roads with vehicle traffic. If hazardous
riding is seen by an officer they are encouraged to use enforcement action.
WATER SUPPLY
We will be providing water in the form of pre-packaged water bottles as well as designated water coolers located on standard folding tables. There will be recyclable cups for use.
