DeAr FrieNDS,Shakespeare turns 450 this year and so we bring you a joyous, thrilling, and powerful season celebrating his life and work. The magic of A Midsummer Night’s Dream unfolds in the mysterious mangrove forests of the Mississippi Delta – with a ‘30s twist. The stark majesty
of our ‘bare Bard’ style returns in two productions: Founding Artistic Director Tina Packer’s stunning vision of Julius Caesar (last seen on our stages in 1993) and the outdoor production of Romeo and Juliet in the Dell at The Mount, Edith Wharton’s Home. Finally, the History Cycle returns with a roar as things heat up in Henry IV.
Our tribute continues with two plays about Shakepeare’s life and work: Shakespeare’s Will tells the secret story of Shakespeare’s wife, and The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) lets loose with a comedic barrage you won’t soon forget.
True to the spirit of Shakespeare, and our mission, we present new and classic works such as the hilarious, recent Tony Award-winner: Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike — and as the centerpiece of our outdoor offerings, a World Premiere adaptation of The Servant of Two Masters — a delight for all audiences.
Be sure to visit us this fall as the fun continues with another laugh-out-loud ‘whodunit,’ Private Eyes, followed by our holiday hit, the critic and audience favorite: It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play.
Hope to see you all this season as we greet the glorious summer and spectacular fall!

A hilarious medley of mayhem, comedy, and lunacy, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) returns (after too long of an absence) with a naughty new cast, a devilishly fresh take, and a feverish pace. With a wink and a nod (and perhaps a pinch of the bottom), this clever parody whirls by — you’ll be laughing long after we’re done with you!

Power and rebellion collide in a whirlwind adaptation of Henry IV — delivering both parts in one dynamic evening of theatre. A 15th century Eastcheap and a contemporary London set the stage for the exploits of a defiant Prince Hal and his partner-in-crime, the unruly knight Falstaff, as he faces his guilt-ridden father King Henry, and the plotting of Harry Percy — “The Hotspur.” Shakespeare’s History Cycle continues to captivate and mesmerize after 450 years.

Passion, humor, and mystery abound in this sensual and provocative tale by award-winning Canadian playwright Vern Thiessen. Filled with song, dance, and the poetry of language, Shakespeare’s Will, set in 1616 in Stratford-upon-Avon, explores the uncharted and tumultuous life of Anne Hathaway — Shakespeare’s enigmatic wife. The woman who spent 34 years married to a genius she rarely saw finally gets to tell us her tale.

The riveting and bloody story of Julius Caesar heats up the Bernstein stage in this pared-down ‘bare Bard’ production, in which seven actors play all the roles. This psychological drama follows the conspiracy against and the assassination of the Roman Dictator by his closest friends and peers and the brutal aftermath of his murder.
Featuring: Jason Asprey, Edmund Donovan, Nigel Gore, Eric Tucker, James Udom, Kristin Wold

This most timeless tale has it all: comedy, tragedy, action, and romance. Romeo and Juliet reminds us of what it is to swear by the moon, to see the sun in another person, and to risk the consequences hanging in the stars. Performed ‘bare Bard’ style with only six actors playing all the roles and trimmed to 90 minutes, you won’t want to miss our Northeast Regional Tour of Shakespeare when it comes home for the summer!Bring a picnic! grounds open two hours before the show.

Theatre and life intertwine when actors Matthew and Lisa, a happily married couple, find the truth nearly too impossible to uncover. Is Lisa having an affair with a British director, or is the affair part of the play being rehearsed? Or perhaps Matthew has imagined all of it? The audience itself plays the role of ‘private eye’ in this sidesplitting relationship thriller about love, desire, and the power of deception.
