WAM

Fest

ival

Summer’s fast approaching, which, after a hugely successful move to the warmer part of the year last fest, now means it’s WAM Festival time.

The WAM Festival holds an important place in the Perth calendar with its unique mix of industry recognition (WA Music Awards), the sharing of ideas and knowledge (WA Music Conference), international exchange (Singapore WA Music Exchange/SWAM), and showcasing the best of WA talent (Saturday Spectacular, Opening Party, Festival Sideshows and more).

The WAM Festival coalesces the WA music industry, irrespective of genre, role or degree of success, into three nights and two days of busy celebration and collegiate exchange. 2014 will be no different with 140 artists or bands showcasing in 17 venues, 54 conference industry expert conference speakers from all over the world gathered to dispense limitless advice, and 35 awards given out to WA’s finest talents.

As always, these events cannot happen without assistance and sponsorship, and the major supporter of the WAM Festival this year is again the City of Perth. To the City of Perth, the Department of Culture and The Arts and all the WAM Festival partners, I say thank you; not just from WAM but from the broader music industry and the music loving public, who are the ultimate winners from the WAM Festival.

Participate. Celebrate. Learn. Dance. Enjoy the 2014 WAM Festival.

MIKE HARRIS WAM Chief Executive Officer

WAM is all about celebrating WA music, so this year the live music aspect of the WAM Festival is all about celebrations. The Opening Party will be just that – a party with some of the hardest working and hardest rocking bands Perth has to offer. Then, due to popular demand, the WA Music Awards have returned to Capitol, with the Craft Awards also happening outdoors in the afternoon, and then the festivities continuing into the early hours with two official After Parties.

The fest winds up with the epic Saturday Spectacular, featuring the first ever WAM Festival Block Party. All this, plus some incredible Sideshows programmed to provide targeted showcases covering hip hop, metal, punk, jazz, indie pop and more, all new free benefits of purchasing a WA Music Conference pass. With a new, condensed and focused approach to live music showcasing this year, it promises to the best value, best quality, best fun and most valuable festival yet!

GREG SANDERS WAM Festival Coordinator

This year’s WA Music Conference is all about providing exposure for WA’s emerging artists and entrepreneurs through facilitating real opportunities and connections. We’ve curated a program featuring over 50 speakers from across Australia and the globe, who will be sharing their expert knowledge and offering insights into everything from DIY touring, income streams, social media and more. Conference goers also receive exclusive free access to unique one-on-one meetings with speakers and rare radio pitching sessions, plus free entry to all festival events and sideshows. There’s really no better way to get your live music fix, rub shoulders with the industry’s brightest and take your music industry knowledge to the next level. As this year’s WA Music Conference Coordinator, I’m incredibly excited about the opportunities on offer in 2014!
