Students at Oxley High School are supported by a highly effective student welfare system and a strong transition programme with its partner primary schools. Oxley High School is characterised by a Middle (years 7, 8, 9) and Senior (years 10, 11, 12) School structure. We at Oxley High School believe that this best caters to the academic, social and emotional of all our students and, enables students to form positive relationships with their peers and teaching staff alike. Our core values are Respect, Tolerance, Personal Best and Commitment to Community. We are a school that values the wearing of uniform, high behavioural and learning expectations, resilience and effective interpersonal relationships.

Student academic, social and sporting achievement is very strong at Oxley High School and is characteristically across years, genders, races and abilities. Student achievement at the HSC regularly sees ATARs above 90 with strong indications of student improvement in the HSC in the remainder of the cohort. Our NAPLAN results indicate effective educational growth in teaching and learning from Years 7-9. between students and their teachers in every aspect of the school. Last year saw the top 2 HSC students in the region attend Oxley and there are strong expectations that we will again see this calibre of results from our Year 12 students. Notwithstanding this, we have seen a trend of across the board of improvement by HSC students in the middle bands of achievement validating our whole school view that “students come to school to learn.”

2014 has also seen significant progress on the rebuild of Castlereagh. It is understood that when the full handover of the modernised facilities in 2015 will include a state of the art Performing Arts and Dance studio, Library, English, Music, Science, Technology and PDHPE classrooms and, Macquarie Administration Area. These advancements in our facilities will see a significant improvement in our school facilities and in our view be an opportunity for students to enhance their learning in state of the art facilities.

School 2014 The HSC results continue to exhibit relative stability for the cohort. There has been a shift in Band 1 results for Oxley High School HSC students with a significant fall in the numbers of Band 1 results falling to practically zero across all subjects. Our highest achieving HSC students continue to dominate HSC results across Tamworth and the region which reflects the levels of dedication and professionalism of the teachers and, the high expectations that both students and staff have for themselves at this level of study. Aboriginal, Multicultural and Anti-Racism Education Mr Baldwin, Mrs Way and Ms Smith accompanied students to the University of New England for a visit to the Oorala Centre (Aboriginal Education Centre in Armidale) where they attended a presentation by the Indigenous Education Officers. The Minister for Education, Mr Adrian Piccoli, will be joined us and the Clontarf program on Thursday 18th September for an Early Morning Training and will be presenting Polo Shirts to our ‘500’Pointers’.
