This year marks our 19th annual on property bull sale. The bulls on offer, we believe, are a reflection of our commitment to the industry and a draft of bulls we are proud to have our brand on.

The challenging period we’ve all endured over the last 12 months has highlighted the need to breed cattle for our Australian environments. As we move into an era of performance based payment with rising costs of production, efficiency becomes imperative for maintaining profit. The two biggest profit drivers of a beef cattle breeding herd are weight for age and maternal fertility and efficiency. This years bulls represent this breed-ing philosophy, with bulls suited to all aspects of the industry, backed by outstanding steer trial results and strict fertility control from a breeding program that doesn’t tolerate inefficiency.

We have catalogued some of the breeds highest indexing bulls suited to all Australian beef markets. This years bulls are an even line with more than 85% of the catalogue ranking in the top 25% of the breed for either the domestic, export or northern maternal indexes.

YAMBURGAN EMPEROR E103 (P)

E103 is extremely balanced and structurally sound with a lot of fill through the hindquarter. He was a very easy doing bull, which is evident in his fat figures. The more data we are collecting on Emperor, the more he continues to impress. We scanned over 300 head in May this year with E103 being one of the stand out sires. E103 is in the top 5% of the breed for the domestic maternal index, export maternal index and northern maternal index. He is a trait leader for gestation length, scrotal size, EMA and IMF. Unfortunately we recently lost Emperor E103.

YAMBURGAN OSSIE E65 (P)

Ossie E65 is a moderate framed, slick coated sire with an excellent hind quarter and top line. A bull with a lot of muscle and carcase shape but not course in any way. He has excellent structure and temperament. Y Jill 132nd has bred extremely well over a long period, her first calf sold to Evan Flint, South Bundarra stud for $10,000 and she has three daughters retained, one of which was used as an ET donor in 2010.

BROUGHTON PARK AMBASSADOR F57 (P)

Ambassador F57 is a good growth for age bull that stood out in his contemporary group for his balance, width and high marbling ability. He had the highest IMF scan of the year drop as a two year old. His dam, BP Duchess A85 has bred well with a very sound BP Thunder C23 daughter re-tained and another good sale bull for next year by Y Sparta F149. Ambassador F57 has bred an excellent line of sale bulls from only a small number of cows joined, they are wide hipped, well balanced types that catch your eye. We are continually pleased with how the BP Senator Y41 females are breeding and used this bull for his more moderate size and overall soundness.

Ossie D807 is producing very strong topped progeny with good weight for age and low birth weight. His dam, Y Jill 142nd, has three daughters retained and was CFA last year as a 12 year old cow. She has had bulls sell to $7,000. This female line maternally is very strong. D807 has worked well over a range of females from heifers to older cows. He is a moderate framed bull that produces a lot of muscle where the money is made, very strong along the spine, which is a real Oscar trait.

Governor was purchased as a three year old sire from Ray Morgan who rated him as one of the best bulls he has bred. He is a bull with a tremendous front, extremely well laid in shoulder with a lot of length. He is going to fit into our pro-gram well going across Aladdin and Lockyer daughters. He is one of the highest bulls in the breed for export maternal index. Governor has bred an excellent line of high indexing replacement females, they are all very sound structured, quiet and well grown. He is a genuine low birth weight, high weight for age sire that will add calving ease without reduc-ing muscling ability.

Sparta carries exceptional carcase characteristics thought the hindquarter and top line. He has a great mix of genetics combining Aladdin and Theodore giving excellent carcase shape and softness in one package. We have been very happy with the progeny of F149. As we submit more data his figures will strengthen more. Some of the standout lots in this years catalogue are sired by Sparta F149. We admire the width, spring of rib and muscling ability of the Sparta F149 progeny but also the females he is producing. These genetics are blending well with our current sires.

HIWAIROA JACK F41 (P) (IMP NZ)

A semen share in Hiwiroa Jack F41 was purchased after seeing him at Jim Symes and Tymothy Plumbers property in NZ. We were impressed with Jack F41’s front, well laid in shoulders, good length of neck with a very sirey head. He is one of the best Jackeroo sons we have seen in this area. He also had a very strong top line with the muscle carrying down the hind leg well and stands on good leg structure.

Poseidon is a bull with a lot of presence, excellent structure and shoulder, soft with a maturity pattern to fit any market.He was sold at our 2010 bull sale to Peter and Charmaine Cook, Barana Stud, for $13,000. Poseidon D176 has been used as an AI sire and in ET programs. His dam, Y Royal 70th, has been a prolific breeder over a long period. Sons sold have averaged $10,500 and she has two daughters retained. This is also the same female line as Y Emperor E103.

Jackaroo is a potent sire across many herds around the world. He will add muscle and carcase yield to any herd but not in a course way, his progeny still have good cover. CATALOGUE INFORMATION

Performance recording is of vital importance in the Manchee Agriculture operation. MA believes in the utilisation of large contemporary groups to allow animals, that meet our tough selection criteria, to be identified and offered at our sale. This years two year old bulls were assessed for scanning in a contemporary group of 91 bulls and the yearling bulls were in a group of 42.

Our ability to focus on the combination of practical breeding principles including fertility, calving ease, weight for age and carcase quality sets MA apart when it comes to our strength in all selection indexes.

Selection indexes allow for a balanced selection for various markets and objectives. A selection index combines the EBVs with economic information (costs and returns) for specific mar-ket and production systems to reflects the value of an animal, to your breeding objective, in dollar terms. Any bull with a shaded Breedplan figure indicates he is in the top 25% of the breed for that trait.

HEALTHAll bulls have been vaccinated against Vibriosis and 7 in 1. Booster shots are due in June each year. Semen testing will be car-ried out by Geoff Steinbeck, Excel Genetics, Dungowan. (02) 6769 4251. The bulls are guaranteed fertile on the day of the sale.

BREEDING GUARANTEEAll bulls are guaranteed to be breeders with the exception of:(a) In the event of injury or disease that occurs to the animal after the sale;(b) Gross negligence or wilful misconduct on the part of the purchaser. Should any problems arise we trust that we will be the first to hear.

Lots showing the YY logo are selected as potential sires for Manchee Agriculture to use in the future. Manchee Ag-riculture retains the right to collect up to 300 straws for in herd use at no cost to the purchaser. Manchee Agricul-ture will collect semen at an agreed time with the purchaser.

FROM GUNNEDAH: Travel on the Kamilaroi Hwy to Boggabri and con-tinue towards Narrabri for 16 km, turn right, the sign will say Harparary and Maules Creek. Stay on this road until you have crossed the Namoi River (a single lane timber bridge), after which there will be a set of cross-roads (approx 3 km afterwards), turn left, the sign will say ‘Wallah’. Stay on this road until you reach a T-intersection, turn left and travel 8 km to ‘Wallah’.

FROM NARRABRI: Follow the main street (Maitland St) south east out of town, travel under the railway overpass near the RSL on the outskirts of town. Continue on this road for 12 km, turn left onto the Maules Creek Rd. Do not go over the Namoi River (single lane bridge). Travel on this road for 9 km.
