With elevation that ranges from 1,600 to 2,400 feet above sea level, this estate vineyard sits on a 160 acre estate of which thirteen acres are planted in Cabernet Sauvignon and three in Merlot. The rocky volcanic soils and weather conditions are challenging, but worth the extra effort as the vineyards produce wines with outstanding flavor, intensity and aging properties. Vintage Notes: 2014 will be remembered as the year a powerful earthquake rocked Napa Valley in late August. It was also the second drought vintage, creating an accelerated growing season, which began with early flowering after a mild winter and culminated in an exceptionally early harvest. The summer of 2014 was cooler than 2013, and largely uninterrupted by heat spikes. Thanks to those cool conditions, the wines have retained fresh fruit and bright acidities. Winemaker’s Notes: Deep garnet-purple colored, our 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain reveals notes of freshly crushed black currants, chestnuts and blackberries with underlying kirsch liquor notes, hints of cigar box, dried mint, char- grilled meats and supple leather. Decadent in the mouth, with velvety tannins and exotic spices accenting the black fruit preserves flavor, leading to a very long finish. Drink now through the next 12 – 15 years.
