MilwaukeeMembership News..................................Fall Greetings to all of our Members.

I would just like to take a moment to remind all of you to keep the membershipchair informed of any changes in address, email, or phone number. I havehad a higher than usual number of returned Emerald Reflections and othernotifications recently.

I also would like to remind all of ourmembership of the importance of giving acouple of hours to help out at HolidayFolk Fair. This is one of our larger fundraisers, but more importantly it is a wayfor us to showcase our Irish heritage andour club.

Being this is our November issue, Iwould like to take this opportunity to wishall of you and your families HappyThanksgiving.

- Glenn Nowak, Membership ChairMilwaukee Chapter

Ron’sCorner Cupboard..................................

The meal for the November meetingwill be roast pork tenderloin with somesides. I would ask the membership to continue with the great response in bringing desserts and other side dishes and appetizers. We will have the usual rafflein addition to a 50/50 raffle, as it seemedto catch on after a slow start. Please signup for the Folk Fair. I am always open tosuggestions for food choices for our meetings.

MilwaukeePresident’s Message..................................

Well, we are rapidly flying throughAutumn! I can’t believe we are in November already. Where did the timego? As I enjoy the beautiful colors outside I am reminded to stop and begrateful for the blessings we are given andmaybe not remember often enough in ourhectic lives.

Sometimes I think we forget how precious our fellow members are. We needto nurture their love of their Irish heritageand volunteerism and really appreciateevery moment of time and talent they devote to the Shamrock Club. Why must Ihear of people not coming back to meetings because of the arguing and theunderlying negative grumbling duringmeetings? Plus, our club has a history of people leaving because of the arguingthat tends to over-shadow the incredible history of being the first to helpall the developing Irish groups - Irish Fest,ICHC, and the list goes on and on. So asnot to dwell on this sad commentary, I askall of us to really reflect on how we canenhance the club with our wonderful Irishspirits and stop degrading each other forimagined or real slights. Let’s work together to build membership instead ofpitting against each other.

OK, on to a happier note! Our HonoreeDinner was fantastic! We had a wonderfulgroup present at Meyers Restaurant to applaud our 2014 Irish Rose, Julie Smith;Parade Marshals, Mike and Mary Moze;and Irishman of the Year, Tom McAleese. We had excellent food, a wonderful venueand of course lovely company. Thank youall for coming and celebrating what I thinkis one of our most special awards!

Next up - Holiday Folk Fair. I know wewill be in dire need of volunteers soPLEASE ask children and grandchildrento spend some time with you at the IrishCafé, Marketplace and/ or Cultural booth.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all and let’sbe kind to one another starting with thisHoliday Season and staying throughout2015 and beyond!
