Again we take great pleasure in welcoming you all to the 14th annual

Allencroft/BorderButte black angus bull sale. It is hard to believe it is 14

years since I initiated the first sale. We have made so many wonderful friends

and acquaintances over the years. It is extremely gratifying to see so many

customers come back year after year. The folks at the Feeding Co. are always

great to work with and we greatly appreciate their support. As for the bulls ,

another great set of bulls, some from new sires others from tried and proven

genetics, we are always looking for that bull that is just that, much better and

keeps the gene pool fresh. There are lots of bulls that will work great with

heifers.

As always the bulls haven’t been pushed to their maximum potential on

performance, so as to preserve their longevity. The bulls we put before you

have lots of frame, length, and muscle, they are the type of cattle in demand

in the commercial cattle industry, we have never let the show ring dictate the

type of cattle we raise.

You are most welcome to come and see the bulls anytime at the Allencroft or

Border Butte locations or March 19th at the Medicine Hat Feeding Company

location.

Ultrasound and semen tests and current weight results will be available sale

Irish is one of the most exciting young sires in the breed for spread EPDs powered by Pfizer HD 50K. His individual ratios against herd mates and a bullet proof pedigree for calving ease combined with docility and strong carcass make him an appealing young sire. His productive young dam records 2 at 111 NR and 2 at 114 YR. Irish’s pedigree is backed by three generations of calving ease sires and can be used on the most popular pedigrees in today’s herds.

When we were looking for a new walking sire we were drawn to this bull as he was an embryo calf from a cow I fell in love with as she showed and was named Champion Cow at Agribition in 2007. Several Yellowstone 80M calves showed that day and were all what we look for in cattle. So the decision to invest in this guy was easy. Again his calves floated to the top of the pen with ease. Offering performance, eye appeal, nuts, docility, and hair.. His first daughters now calving are looking stylish and functional with tremendous udder qualities.

“53U” is leaving us a great group of calves every year that are easy to pick out with great style. He was retained for his great temperment, and strong maternal attributes stemming from his mother who possessed great feet and udder qualities second to none. With this package came his impressive performance that is showing up in all of his calves. His daughters are calving with ease, are docile, and picture perfect udders.

Another sale season is upon us and as I look into the bull pen I feel we again are bringing to town a solid group of bulls that are offering performance, eye appeal, hair and docility; some of the things that are high on our list of must haves. Cattle that function is at the top of our list , we feel that a bull is the most important way to instill this into a herd. We pride ourselves on having developed and continue to develop a herd that offers sound footed, hard working, functional cattle that work well in tough environments. These cattle are raised where they must be able to travel dis-tances as our pastures are up to 320 acres in size, so we know the importance of an animals ability to travel, along with the importance of early gain in these cattle as many of our customers sell their calves in the fall. We look for those bulls that will enable you to have a lighter less stress birth and still wean off a calf the same size as an animal that weight-ed more at birth and was slower to be up and nursing. We utilize all the technology, science available to breed the “right kind” of cattle, which does differ for each producer. The bulls are available out there and we do everything we can to source these genetics. Whether it be through AI or walking bulls we are very confident in our decision when breeding each spring and are proud to bring to town the product. This years bulls which are the combination of our 13 years of decision making,culling and incorporation of new females and than mixed with the leading sires available today. With that said, this year we also made a change to the development of these bulls through their housing. We have put the bulls into a larger area paddock that allows for more activity and muscle development, we feel this will improve their agility down the road.
