HOOPS FOR HEART

Starting February 23, all students will be receiving information

and a collection envelope for Hoops for Heart. This is a charity

fundraiser for the American Heart Association. You may remem-

ber having done Jump Rope for Heart yourself as a student! This

is the same thing, only our focus is with basketball. Students are

NOT required to turn in any money. The event itself will take

place during PE class starting March 9. Because it is during

the school day, and a part of our regular PE curriculum, stu-

dents do not need to turn in a permission slip. Please look over

this information with your student and consider allowing them

to donate, do chores for donation, or ask family members to donate. All do-

nations need to be turned in by March 13. If you have any questions or com-

ments, please contact Mrs. Klug at [email protected]

Woodlan Elementary—East Allen County Schools

Woodlan Cafeteria/Lunchroom Reminders: If you ever have any questions or concerns about your child’s account, please call Darlene Hamilton, cafeteria manager, 446-0290, ext. 7411. You may also view your child’s lunch activity via Parent Access on the EACS website .

Parents and other visitors of students—we welcome you to eat breakfast or lunch with your child at anytime, but we need to know if you are com-ing ahead of time to plan accordingly. Please do so by calling in before 9:00 a.m. or send a note with your child. We also ask that you sign in and wear a Visitor’s badge. Adult lunches are $2.40. As we are cashless system, we ask that you bring correct change for your lunch. You may use your child’s lunch account to purchase your lunch. If you do not have correct change, we can deposit the rest of your money into your child’s lunch account .

Minimum deposits are $10.00 for each full pay student, $2.00 for a reduced student. If your child would like to purchase extras you need to deposit money for that also. If your child doesn’t have enough money in their account we can drop the amount in the minus figure. The system only allows us to drop the child’s account down to (-$5.00) After that we have to give them a Peanut Butter Jelly lunch. We appreciate your help in keeping your child’s account up to date. You can view their account online.

If your child is in K-3 please work with them at home to learn their student ID number to put into the system so our lines can run smoother.

If you are having issues with your child’s lunch account being depleted too quickly, please check your Parent Access for what your child is choos-ing. You may opt to limit their purchases of ala cart items, please just send in a note with your preference or call.

NO breakfast will be served on 2 or 3 hour delay days.

The Woodlan cafeteria staff is helping another food service group in NE In-diana collect plastic caps. Their goal is to collect 8,000 pounds of caps and lids to recycle into 8 benches and 4 picnic tables for their school's play-ground. The Woodlan cafeteria staff would like to give a big THANK YOU to the K-6 staff and students for their support in collecting plastic lids. This is going to a great cause. When these kids get their new playground equip-ment, you'll know that you helped put a smile on so many faces. And per-haps some day they can return the favor! THANK YOU again!!
