What is AIESEC?
AIESEC is a global platform for young people to explore and develop their leadership potential. We are a non-political, independent, not-for-profit organisation run by students and recent graduates of institutions of higher education. Its members are interested in world issues, leadership and management. AIESEC does not discriminate on the basis of ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion or national / social origin.
Since we were founded, we have engaged and developed over 1,000,000 young people who have been through an AIESEC experience.
The impact of our organisation can be seen through our alumni who represent business, NGO and world leaders, including one Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Martti Atisaari of Finland.

AIESEC in hkbu
Why we do it?Our belief is that sustainable, informed and globally-minded leadership can help us solve many of today’s challenges. We provide young people with a global platform where they grow in confidence, gain experience and can perhaps fail but learn fast. They discover what really matters to them while creating a positive social impact.
AIESEC in HKBU, with 29 years of history, was established in 1986. Since then, we have been aiming to develop students’ leadership potential and bring positive impact to the society through exchange. This is the place where young people can connect to the world, have the confidence to learn and have the freedom to fail. This is why we do what we do!

comfort zone and fight for our future.

eventually we change. It’s never a dream

A journey of Changemakers
National Conference - Youth to Sustainability Summit (2015)
What is your ideal city?
Youth to Sustainability Summit (YS) aims at
opening the youths’ eyes and encouraging
them to step up for their own city. “When
you see it, you understand it. When you un-
derstand it, you start to change it.” Being
aware of what is happening around us is the
first step to be a changemaker. Guests and
speakers in YS tell us what and how we can do
to make ourselves, and make the world a bet-
ter place to live. A little change in mind can
always lead to great improvement!

AIESEC Touch
ACE CAMP
AIESEC Touch is one of the highlights of every
year in AIESEC in HKBU. Being the first touch
point with HKBU students, we aim to create an
experiential environment for students to
experience AIESEC culture as well as the cultural
diversity in AIESEC. This year, we invited more
than 30 star guests, speakers, past Exchange
Participants and Team Leaders for sharing their
fruitful AIESEC journey with HKBU students. May
AIESEC Touch be the first step in your AIESEC
journey.
ACE Camp - Be the ACE of yourself. What is
the secret of a good leader? It starts with
self awareness. Through this camp, we desire
our members to be the leader of themselves
and realise that leadership is not a cliche
but a world-wanting matter. Challenge your
assumption, be the ACE of yourself.

AIESEC WEEK- Be the Impact
AIESEC week is the highlight of this year. This
year, we hope to help HKBU students explore on
social issues.
Two open forums were held in order to raise the
awareness of HKBU students towards fair trade
and food leftover. The activities would not have
been successfully held without the help from the
following speakers:
Anthony Chiu, Chairman of Fair Circle
Henry Ngai, CEO of HKOWRC
Winnie Ngai, Green Designer at Run 2 Tree Studio
Eric Cheung, Co-Founder of Run 2 Tree Studio

JIU JIK Journey
During the 2-day event, the teaching
consultant from department of management,
Mr. S. W. Lam and the guest speaker from WallStone
Partners & Company Limited, were invited to share
their experiences and views on working abroad.
Students had the chance to know more about
overseas working opportunities by interacting with
the guests as well as our GIP members!
How is it like to go on exchange with AIESEC? Our
Global Citizen Touch provided an interactive
platform for students to learn about our
Global Citizen Program. We held four Global Citizen
Touch in February, and attracted over 200 students.
Reputable authors and travelers like Mr. Fred Lam, Ms
Anna Tam, Mr. Terrence Wu and Dr. Dominic Chan were
invited to talk about their overseas experiences. We
also created a space for past exchange participants
to share their incredible volunteering stories in
summer. It is the perfect place for students to
start a life-changing experience!

Romania I am a Global Citizen“The only impossible journey is the one you never begin.” This
motto is deeply believed by a very ordinary girl who is studying
chemistry environment. She had been to almost 7 countries in
Europe by her own. It seems like inconceivable, but it is indeed
possible with a passionate heart no matter who you are. And
this very ordinary girl called Daisy. Yeah, it’s me.
I worked in a very small city in Romania called Oradea. Few days
after, I started my work, Kindergarten! My responsibility was to
take care of the children who are 3 to 8 years old. For example,
I have to teach them simple English and some Chinese cultural.
When they said the language I taught them, the feeling is cannot
described just with ‘satisfaction’ this word.
I felt very very exciting. Although they were naughty sometimes,
they were willing to learn more from me. They hugged me, they
kissed me a lot!! I think ‘blissful’ is to describe this moment!
More importantly, the different kinds of interns made a lot of
colors in my journey.
They came from worldwide: Egypt, Australia, China, Malaysia and
so on. I indeed got many insights from them ranging from
culture to psychology. I haven’t imagined that I will have friends
worldwide!

russia I am a Global CitizenThis is the best summer ever because I made many break thoughts
and I could witness my significant personal development! Changes like
being more independent, active and growing and learning continu-
ously have been occurring throughout the internship. I remembered,
at first, I was too relied on my hosting LC and host family because I
was completely overwhelmed by the language barriers. As Voronezh
is a small city in Russia, implying that Russian is everywhere. Hence,
I did not dare to explore the city on my own and keep relying on
others to pick me up and show me directions. I could not step out
of my comfort zone. Unexpectedly, things started changing since
and after I traveling alone to other cities. There’s a saying: “If you
have no other ways, you can make it”. It was absolutely true to me.
The happiest moment for me was to have a precious chance to make
friends with different people, such as people from AIESEC, summer
camps and other places other than Hong Kong. After this internship,
we actually still keep in contact and chat to each other every day,
just like I did not leave Russia.

Brazil I am a Global CitizenThe project I’ve joined is to help a NGO called Earth Charter to
promote the concept of human right to local teenagers. My partners
and I worked in a local secondary school at Sao Paulo, one of the major
cities in Brazil. Although I have known that people in Brazil seldom use
English, the popularity of English in Brazil is much lower than my
expectation. Most of the people in Brazil only speak Portuguese (which
is different from that in Portugal) and didn’t learn English. This became
the worst problem of my job since I didn’t learn Portuguese and I had to
teach the teenagers something quite complicated. Fortunately, some of
the students and my partners can do the translation and I can present
my ideas with the help of simple drawing. The happiest thing of the job
is that the students told me that they really learnt something from my
speech. It showed that my job is meaningful.
I think the strongest culture shock I faced in Brazil is the enthusiasm of
Brazilians. Unlike Hong Kong people who sometimes quite cold to
strangers, Brazilians (besides criminals) always make friends with
strangers.
So, even for me who is an introverted person, I can feel comfortable
when I talk to them. Also, Brazilians love sports, especially football. As
I went to Brazil at the moment of World Cup 2014, I can feel that they
enjoy every match, and whenever their country won a match they would
just celebrate crazily. I think the biggest treasure in my trip is to
understand more about people living in the other side of the world.

similar but not the sameHaving lived in Singapore for more than 2 months, I have experienced
something that is quite different from that in Hong Kong. First of
all, with the spacious area and greenery, the living environment is
quite peaceful. As where I live is a Malay district, I can get involved
into their daily routines and know more about their culture
especially their cuisine, festivals and religious practices.
My work experience in Singapore is actually quite similar to that in
Hong Kong in terms of pace and efficiency. I’m currently working in
the ITT Global Learning Ltd. that is accredited by the Ministry of
Education of Singapore to organize overseas learning journey for
the Singaporean students. As the company I work in is a smallsized
enterprise with only 9 colleagues including my boss, it is easier for
me to engage in the company and Singaporean life. My boss also
adopts an “open-door policy” by which he can know what is happen-
ing in the office. If we have any financial or emotional problems, we
can chat with him anytime. This is the most different thing that I
experienced in Singapore.

keep going
My job title is account executive under Public Relations Division in Top3 Media.
I really enjoy working at my company. Although it is just a start-up
business for 4-5 years, it is expanding rapidly with a lot of new
members coming in. The company is recruiting talents internationally.
The dynamic team and the energetic culture give sufficient freedom for
each individual to grow.
The company culture is great too. We go bowling every week,
team-building activities every a few months (we just went for Bubble
Football!), and some random feast etc.. This family is vibrant, fun and
very caring indeed.
Unlike the MNCs, SME allows us to get in touch with every single detail in
your job, which will definitely help one to grow and improve faster.
The most difficult part of the journey would be the language barrier. It
does take me some time to adapt to the accent and the slangs here.
Since communication is the vital part in work and daily life, I found my
English not proficient enough to express myself clearly and to
understand colleagues and clients’ meaning. But I am gradually improving
and enjoying my work life here!
