our mission is free tutoring and Computer uSe
the ace tutoring center is a learning center dedicated to
helping students with free tutoring and study skills. the largest
campus computer lab is available to students there for papers,
projects and presentations, along with a Mac computer lab for
multimedia projects.
aCademiC CounSeling
Scc’s academic counselors will help guide you toward
productive academic decision making. and, if life gets
tough, Scc's mental health counselor can help you meet
the challenges head on.
learning aCCommodationS
the accessibility Services Office provides test accommodations,
registration assistance and alternate formats for learning. Be
sure to request services at least eight weeks in advance to
ensure appropriate and reasonable accommodations.
liBrary network aCCeSS
In addition to the learning resource center, which contains
a collection of materials and electronic databases, you’ll have
access to an additional 25 million volumes through the
MOBIUS shared library organization. that's a lot of books.
CourSeS that fit
Scc offers coursework in math, english and reading that
will prepare you for college-level classes. placement in these
courses is determined by the results of the academic skills
assessment that you'll take during the admissions process.
Career ServiCeS
Scc’s career Services offers career counseling, job search
assistance, job postings, job shadowing opportunities,
workshops and classes. the Scc-sponsored job fair in May
is a big help, too.
online and teChniCal help
Who has time to troubleshoot computer problems when
there's homework to do? the Scc help Desk is available when
you need technical assistance with any Scc online service.
eduCation aBroad
Scc offers opportunities to study abroad in england
and France. each spring semester, students can study at
canterbury christ church University in canterbury, england.
Or, in the summer, travel to cannes, France, for a six-week
study tour. these trips provide cultural exploration and an
opportunity to earn college credit.

You must take the academic Skills assessment if you plan
to enroll in 6 credit hours or more (two or more classes)
your first semester. If you have taken the act®, be sure to
bring your scores with you. If you’ve passed english and/
or math at another college with a grade of ‘c’ or higher,
bring a transcript or copy of your grades. You may be
exempt from all or a portion of the assessments. For

Your assessment will be reviewed with you by an
academic counselor who will help you select the
courses you need to get started and plan for success.

cOl 101 (college Success Seminar) is required for
all first-time freshmen who take 9 hours or more in
fall or spring semesters. It is also required if taking
5 or more credit hours in the summer term.
pay tuition and feeS
pay your tuition and fees in full according to the
current academic calendar to avoid being dropped
from all your courses.
Scc has contracted with an outside vendor to
provide students with an alternative tuition payment
plan (nelnet) to help accommodate different
lifestyles and budgets. You will be assessed a fee
for this service.

the federal work Study program offers a variety of part-time campus job opportunities.

semester to a full scholarship of tuition and standard fees
for up to four consecutive semesters.
Do you qualify for the a+ SCholarShip
program at Scc? ask your high school to forward a

and complete your FaFSa. then just set up a meeting with
an Scc academic counselor to build your schedule, and

the Missouri a+ Scholarship program affords students who
have graduated and successfully met the requirements from a
designated a+ Missouri high school the ability to continue their
education tuition-free at any participating community college or
technical school within the state of Missouri.

• Students need to apply to Scc to obtain a student ID number.
• all a+ students must complete a new FaFSa for each academic
year. the priority deadline to complete the FaFSa is June 1.
• all a+ students must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit
hours each semester and must meet with an academic
counselor to have coursework approved.
keep your eligiBility
• all a+ students must maintain a minimum 2.50 cumulative
gpa at the end of each term.
• all a+ students must meet the minimum satisfactory
academic progress standards established by Scc.

Cougar athletiCS
athletic opportunities at Scc include four intercollegiate
sports teams: soccer and baseball for men, along with
soccer and softball for women. all four teams compete at
the nJcaa Division 1 level. club sports include basketball,
pingpong and Scc’s 13-time national championship-
winning roller hockey team.

Whether you’re interested in the environment, sports,
religion, video games or politics, more than 40 student-run
clubs and organizations will help you learn, grow and gain
experience that will benefit you now and in the future. If

Begin your financial aid application process once your taxes are
complete. You can start by completing a FaFSa application at
fafsa.gov.
trustee and Foundation scholarship applications are due
march 1, so February is the time to start filling them out.

It’s testing time, and we want you to be successful! to determine
your starting level, most incoming students will be tested in
english, math and reading. testing is free and no appointment
