The hot weather and severe lack of rain that we experienced this summer will be remembered

for a long time. But that didn’t hamper the success of Proud American Days this past summer.

The Park District Commissioners and Staff would like to thank all businesses and individuals

who donated time and money, as well as all community groups who participated. The success of

P.A.D. relies on the support of the entire community and Mother Nature, and we would like to say

“Thank You” to both.

Now that winter is approaching, your Recreation Department is always looking for new indoor

programs to offer in order for people of all ages to stay healthy and active. We now offer a variety

of fitness programs that include personal training, fitness health assessment, exercise programs

using hula hoops, and have added programs to highlight the ever-popular Zumba classes. Other

indoor activities include the annual T.E.A.M. Asset Faire, a totally “FREE” event held in March

and a new competitive event that highlights the annual basketball frenzy that occurs every March.

Your Park District Recreation Department offers many programs that are structured so that

families can enjoy them together. Please check out the catalog for details!

As far as your parks are concerned, our most recent renovation, Countryview-Royal Meadows

Park, was finished this past September on time and within budget. This $744,000 renovation (50%

of which was reimbursable through receiving an O.S.L.A.D. grant) went very smoothly and we

couldn’t be happier. The skate park boarders are putting the components to the test, with good

results I might add, and the tennis courts and playground equipment are being used regularly.

Look for an official Grand Opening in summer of 2013.

Lastly, I would like to bring you up to date on the status of the Lincolnway Special Recreation

Facility. This new facility will provide recreational programs for people with special needs.

Over 50% of the funding for this facility will come from a “PARC” grant that was awarded in

October, 2011 through the “Illinois Jobs Now” Capital Construction Program. We had anticipated

beginning construction in the fall of 2012, but because of unforeseen engineering challenges and

the commitment of the six park districts involved (New Lenox, Frankfort, Mokena, Manhattan,

Peotone and Wilmington Island) to stay within budget, the decision was made to delay

construction until spring of 2013; this will ensure quality and fiscal responsibility.

In closing, your Park District continues to focus on programs that all ages can participate in to

enjoy the benefits of active and passive activities. Please go through this catalog to find a program

that is sure to peak your interest!

Be Healthy and Stay Active!

Sincerely,

Brian FischerPark Board President

PARK POLICIESREFUND POLICY: No refunds are given once a program begins unless a replacement is found. No refunds are given on material fees unless we cancel a program. NO REFUNDS ARE GIVEN ON BUS TRIPS. No refunds are given for Special Events or one-day programs. A full refund is issued if we cancel a program or trip.

1. When a participant cancels out of a program, a full refund, LESS a $5.00 Service Charge (per program); will be granted. A $5.00 service charge will also be accessed on all program transfers. These requests will only be honored if the request is submitted THREE BUSINESS DAYS prior to the start of the program or activity. 2. All refunds less than $10.00 will be applied as a credit to the customer’s account. 3. A $30.00 NSF fee will be added for all returned checks. 4. Every effort will be made to process refunds within 30 days, but in some instances it may take longer.

CANCELLATION: The staff reserves the right to consolidate, postpone, reschedule or cancel any program due to change in day, dates, times, instructor, or insufficient enrollment. For cancellations due to unforeseen circumstances (i.e. inclement weather, facility emergencies or scheduling conflicts), which are announced by the Lincoln-Way District #210 or New Lenox School District #122 at facilities where Park District programs are scheduled, Park District programming will be cancelled as well. All attempts will be made to reschedule cancelled classes. However, the New Lenox Community Park District is sometimes unable to accommodate make-up classes and will not refund money in such instances.

PROGRAM BEHAVIOR POLICY: Participants are expected to exhibit appropriate behavior at all times. The following guidelines have been developed to help make Park District programs safe and enjoyable for all participants. Additional rules may be developed for particular programs and athletic leagues as deemed necessary by staff. 1.Show respect to all participants and staff; take direction from staff. 2. Refrain from using abusive or foul language. 3.Refrain from causing bodily harm to self, other participants, or staff. 4. Show respect to equipment, supplies, and facilities. I was very impressed with Connie’s great job. She had several challenges, not on the schedule, and managed all the details well. As a coordinator, she showed us a good bus trip. As a

fellow traveler, she showed us a good time. Thanks, Connie. ~ Bliss Pintar

“ “

Lenny Narug and I would like to say that we had a terrific time in Canada with Connie. She was very warm and friendly and was extremely accommodating. She was always patient and we felt that at any time we could ask her a question. She

made the trip very fun and enjoyable. She brought games, magazines, snacks and water, which everyone was happy

about. I would love to take another trip with the New Lenox Park District and have Connie as the Bus Trip Coordinator.

Ms. Terri has been a blessing to our family. We have loved her Mommy and Me class. She is awesome with the kids and helps moms understand where our kids are in their development for behaviors and learning. My boys are in great hands and my oldest, Benjamin, will hopefully be

in her Toddling Tuesday class for the fall. Thanks for everything Ms. Terri! You are the best!

My son loved the classes. They seemed well organized and were able to pack a lot of activities into the class to

keep the kids occupied. He enjoyed the teachers too. It’s nice when the kids learn things and they don’t feel like they are

being taught, they are just having fun. ~ Tiffany Motto

Due to priority registration of current 3 year-old Kiddie Kampus participants, there are limited spots available in the 4 year-old Kiddie Kampus program.

Kiddie Kampus 2013-2014 Ages 3-4 (as of 9/1/13)Resident Registration Date: Saturday, March 238:00-11:00am (Doors open at 7:00am)LCC (Room 1) Entry COut-of-District Registration begins Monday, April 1What does Kiddie Kampus offer its participants?

Children learn many things before going to kindergarten. The New Lenox Community Park District offers preschool classes designed to develop social, emotional and physical skills to ensure school readiness. A child’s separation from parents and involvement with a non-family member is one of many major steps towards his/her development. Kiddie Kampus provides a safe and supportive environment for your child’s first school experience while increasing his/her self-esteem and confidence through age appropriate instruction. Covered during the year are color, shape and number recognition, an introduction to number concepts and letter recognition. Your child’s quest for learning will be nurtured through creative play, building friendships, working individually and cooperating as part of a group. These activities promote patience, sharing and the awareness that there is a whole world of people surrounding and supporting them. Songs, stories, activities and games are used for reinforcement and fun.

What requirements are necessary for Kiddie Kampus registration?

1. A copy of your child’s birth certificate MUST be provided at registration. A child must be four (three for the 3 year old program), on or before Sept. 1, 2013 and must be able to handle bathroom hygiene independently (potty trained, no diapers). It is very helpful if the child is able to zip/button independently.2. A $50.00 non-refundable registration fee, $10.00 T-shirt fee and first month’s tuition will be collected, beginning Saturday, March 23 from 8:00am-11:00pm, when you pre-register your child.3. A voter’s card or tax bill is required at registration for verification of residency.

Our Kiddie Kampus follows New Lenox School District #122’s calendar year for all full days off except for our winter break.

S.T.O.P. stands for Stop Trashing Our Parks. This beaver character is designed to increase awareness of a community effort to deter

park vandalism. This program offers cash rewards for any information provided which

leads to the apprehension of park vandals. Any individuals providing information are

not required to identify themselves. It is our hope that kids of all ages can relate

to this “friendly mascot” and understand that he is trying to protect the parks.

Our park district now offers an introduction to this program which can be presented to

schools and civic groups.

What is the S.T.O.P. PROGRAM?

COMMEMORATIVE TREE AND BENCH PROGRAMAre you looking for a special way in which to honor a loved one or to

commemorate a Special Event? The New Lenox Community Park

District’s Commemorative Tree and Bench Program is dedicated to the planting of a tree or

placement of a bench in honor of a loved one, organization, or to celebrate your special occasion.

There is a variety of trees that can be purchased and planted. Please keep in mind that trees may

be purchased at any time, but are only planted in the spring and fall and benches would be installed

weather permitting. Please note that these trees and/or benches may be placed within a park site

or at our Sanctuary Golf course but restrictions do apply. Each commemorative donation will be

designated with a plaque honoring your request. For further information, please call 815.485.3584.
