BACKGROUND
Sam is in her 7th year of competing in triathlons. She was recruited to run Division I Cross Country and Track at the United States Air Force Academy, and after one season decided that Triathlons were her true passion. She joined the Academy’s Triathlon Team, and began improving. By 2012, Sam had won her age group at Ironman Wisconsin, qualified for the Ironman World Championships where she placed 3rd in the 18-24 age group, and was given the opportunity to turn pro after a top-5 finish in the nation at USAT Collegiate Nationals. Now in 2013, Samantha placed top-5 once again at USAT Nationals, qualifying her to turn pro for the second time. Most recently, Samantha won the Armed Forces National Championships in her first race as an Active Duty Air Force Officer. In July of 2013, Samantha began racing as Patricia Walsh’s guide. Patricia is currently the number one Blind Paratriathlete in the world. Together, they won the NYC triathlon. Samantha will continue racing as Patricia’s guide to prepare for the 2016 Paralympics in Rio. In October of 2013, Sam will race in the Ironman World Championships for the second time, however this time representing the entire Air Force, as the women’s representative.
