The Dyer Parks & Recreation Board meets regularly on the 2nd Wednesday of eachmonth for their monthly meeting and on the 4th Wednesday of each month for a studysession. Both meetings are held at the Town Hall at 6pm.

Photo Policy 1. Proof of residency will be checked upon payment. Residents who pay property taxes to theTown of Dyer are considered residents. Residents of Munster will pay the resident rate per the partnership. All others may register at the non-resident rate.

2. Unless otherwise stated, participants must be the age required in the program description bythe first day of the class.

3. All participants MUST sign a waiver & release form to participate (parent or legal guardian

MUST sign for participants under 18 yrs. of age) in any program or event that requiresregistration.

4. Programs will not be held if registration is insufficient.5. Phone registration will not be accepted unless otherwise noted.6. If special accommodations are needed to make our programs accessible, please contact the

Dyer Parks & Recreation office at (219) 865-2505.7. Cash, checks and money orders are accepted for payment—except where noted. Returned

NSF checks will result in a service fee. Credit and Debit cards are not accepted.8. Registration deadlines are at 4pm on the day listed. After hours registration will not be

 A special class for moms and their babies. Connect, stretch, andbond with your little one. Taught by certified Samapatti Yoga instructor,Jennifer Connelly. During this six week camp, children will also enjoy learning about nature, the alphabet, numbers, andanimals. We also have a field trip or two planned. Kindermusik has summer Adventure programs for Village, Our Time, Family Time and Imagine That! This is a great opportunity for you to enjoy afive week mini session and see what Kindermusik programs have to offer. If you have done Kindermusik , this is an opportunity for you to continue your musical journey with your child. All sessions meet for five 45-minute classes. All classes meet in Activity Room B at Town Hall. Min. 4/Max. 8 studentsper class. Material fees are paid to instructor at the first class. On the Road: Lessons are 45 minutes in length and are designed for children to attend without an adult. The first class parents will remain fothe entire class without siblings. This class makes the most of a preschooler's burgeoning imagination and ability to learn more words and solve prob

lems. Take imaginary trips to summer vacation locations such as the carnival, a summer cottage, and the beach. Parents also learn more about howmusic improves a preschooler’s ability to think, reason, create and express.  Adults 21 & older, please join us at 3:00pm on Sunday, May 5th at the Northgate Park tennis courts. Once we aregathered, we will discuss what days and times are best for participants. This group will be for all levels of play and 

will strictly be a recreational program. No need to sign up, just come out and share your thoughts and ideas with us.This program will be free of charge and participants must bring their own racquets and tennis balls.

Help improve the quality of life and the environment by having a treeplanted in one of your Dyer Parks to remember or honor a person or 

organization. A minimum donation of $200 will purchase a tree.You may designate the park but Dyer Parks & Recreation will determinethe exact location. Trees are planted each fall. As part of your donation,the person’s name, year of donation and park will be added to one of the

Living Tree Memorial plaques on display at the Dyer Town Hall.

Park Bench Memorials are also available. For a donation of $750 we will

install a park bench with a plaque on the seat back of the bench in apark of your choice. Exact locations will be determined by staff but

1. Pets are allowed in town parks according to posted restrictions. They must beleashed and cleaned up after.

2. Motorized vehicles are prohibited in parks except in designated parking areas.3. No alcohol is allowed (unless authorized by permit).4. Golfing is not allowed in parks.5. No littering or dumping of household garbage or yard waste.6. Fishing is not allowed at Pheasant Hills Park lake.7. All town ordinances will be strictly enforced.8. All Dyer parks are open from dawn to dusk except when authorized differently

by the Parks & Recreation Board, park permit or Dyer Parks & Recreation activ-ity.

Programs and Services are available to both residents andnon-residents of the Town of Dyer, Indiana. Residents are thosethat pay taxes to the Town of Dyer through your property tax bill.Residents also typically pay for water service through the Town

Unincorporated areas of Dyer, Indiana 46311 are non-residentsas zero of your tax dollars support the Town of Dyer and respec-tive departments. Non-residents typically pay a higher fee for

 All shelters have water drinking fountains & electricity available.

Reservations for the picnic shelters in the Town of Dyer parks are accepted in person on a first-come, first-served basis, during business hours in January for the same calendar year. A reserva-tion guarantees the shelter availability for the day desired. Town ordinance also requires any group of 15 or more people must have a permit to use the parks.

Full payment (fee + deposit) in the form of cash or check is accepted to hold the date and is non-refundable. The clean-up and damage deposit of $50 is mandatory for all shelter reservations andis refundable upon Park Board approval. The 7% Indiana General Sales Tax is added to the fees below but not to the clean -up and damage deposit.

Shelters are typically available for reservations between May 17 - October 15.

Plum Creek Center is available to rent on Fridays (until 10pm), Saturdays (until 10pm) and Sundays

(until 9pm) when not being used for Town functions. The one hour of clean-up may occur after theseclosing times. Call (219) 865-2505 to schedule a facility tour.

 All refund requests must be made in writing prior to the rental reservation date and submitted during regular business hours. Any refunds will be considered at the next monthly Park Board meeting, and upon approval, will be mailed to the cus-tomer in the form of a check. Refunds take approximately 3-6 weeks to process.

Facility Rentals:Facility rentals that are canceled 14 days or more in advance of the rental date will receive a full refund minus a $10.00 administrative fee.Facility rentals that are canceled between three-thirteen days in advance of the rental date will receive a full refund of the clean-up and damage deposit and a 50% refund of the rental fees.Facility rentals that are canceled 48 hours or less in advance of the rental date will receive a full refund of the clean-up and damage deposit but will not receive any refund of the rental fees.Once the date of reservation has passed, no refunds will be given for facility rentals. Any facility cancelations made by the Town of Dyer Parks and Recreation department will cause a 100% full refund to the renter with no administrative fee.Refund requests for non-use of a facility due to documented medical emergency or death will be considered on an individual basis taking into consideration the expenses incurred by the Park Department.

Recreation Programs and Trips:No refunds will be given for trips unless the seat can be resold. If it can be resold, a refund will be made subject to a service charge of $5.00.Class cancellations made by the Parks and Recreation Department will result in a 100% refund that will be mailed to the customer. If the customer is a m inor, the refund will go to the Parent/Guardian who signs the registration form. If

minimum, a refund will be given less a service charge of $5.00.Refund requests received after the start of a class shall be denied  except that such a refund request based upon a medical doctor’s writt en excuse submitted prior to completion of the class will result in a pro-rated refund (except as

hereinafter provided) based upon the number of classes held prior to the date of the refund request, less a $5.00 service charge and program supply costs. If such a r efund request causes a class to fall below the minimum number required, and the vacancy cannot be filled, no refund will be given.

 All recreation program and trip refunds applied for are subject to a $5.00 service charge, except that fees of $10.00 or less shall be subject to a service charge equal to 10% of the fee. This policy was adopted 2/9/2011 by the Park Board.

Dyer Town Hall is located on the southside of US Route 30, the 2nd building eastof Hart Street.

Office will be closed May 27, July 4, &Sept 2. The office also closes periodicallyfor staff trainings, meetings, programs,Plum Creek Center tours and periods of unexpected occurrences. Call (219) 865-2505 to confirm an office attendant.
