• Pheromone traps more accurately monitor NOW activity
• Egg traps not as responsive from hull split through harvest
• Will have more information at end of this year
How does egg trap catch correlate with NOW BioLure trap catch?
• Can gather information as to when NOW flights peak in your own orchards
• In blocks with known problems, can determine where the pressure is and/or where it is likely coming from
• NOW flight information gathered this year likely used for future pest control decisions
How do I use NOW BioLure trap catch data this year?
• In presence of mating disruption, trap catch should be virtually zero
How do I use NOW BioLure trap catch data this year?
• Lure lasts for 5-6 weeks in the field.• Prior to use, store this lure and all lures
ideally in the freezer but at the minimum in the refrigerator
• Don’t leave in a hot vehicle• Remember…..traps counts only as good
as your lure
IMPORTANT POINTSNOW
• Pheromone lures track NOW peaks/flights • Should be better able to time insecticide
sprays• What it all means / possible traps catch
thresholds that trigger sprays…. needs to be determined.
• Much easier to use than egg traps
