EN ISO 7010 was first introduced in 2003 and updated in 2012 and is likely to be adopted in the EU to provide a standardised, easy-to-comprehend safety message wherever you are, whatever language is used.

Why EN ISO 7010?The purpose of the standard is to introduce a globally recognised range of safety pictograms. Although many will already be familiar, some are new introductions. While any new compliance regulations are unlikely to demand immediate change, it is always best practice to keep your safety signage aligned with the new, compliant symbols to avoid confusion.

Where does EN ISO 7010 apply?The standard covers safety signs in workplaces and other locations where people need to be informed about safety matters from emergency exits to hazardous areas.

PHOTOLUMINESCENT EMERGENCY AND FIRST AID SIGNSPhotoluminescent signs will illuminate an escape route or important messages when there is a power failure or when the light sources are obscured by smoke. Visual communications compete with one another - in any emergency a photoluminescent safety message will stand out from other less important information.Various international and national norms mention photoluminescent signs. ISO 16069 describes the principles for visual components used to create a Safety Way Guidance System, while the German DIN 67510 focuses more the pholuminescent qualities. Brady standard products comply to the highest European requirements; equivalent to class C products.

PHOTOLUMINISCENT FIRE FIGHTING EQUIPMENT SIGNSPhotoluminescent signs will illuminate important messages when there is a power failure or when the light sources are obscured by smoke. Visual communications compete with one another - in any emergency a photoluminescent safety message will stand out from other less important information.Various international and national norms mention photoluminescent signs. ISO 16069 describes the principles for visual components used to create a Safety Way Guidance System, while the German DIN 67510 focuses more the pholuminescent qualities. Brady standard products comply to the highest European requirements; equivalent to class C products.
