Some of the Data Challenges at Many Colleges
11
Lot’s of data but no intelligence.
Limited predictive insight into students, program and college operations.
Data is fragmented, rigid and at times difficult to access.
No single version of the truth.
Difficult to measure college performance and take timely corrective actions.

Data – A Strategic Asset
Traditionally, colleges and universities use data tactically – to manage operations and legislative mandates.
High performing institutions use data strategically…………
– understand student outcomes
– expand enrolment
– improve student retention
– reduce costs
– improve community impact
How can a college leverage this asset to achieve the above strategic objectives?

Rationale for A College Data Warehouse
To be able to … Have a single, consistent, and complete view of our students
across all applications, databases, and touch points.
Have historical, transactional data structured for college intelligence.
Understand our students – and serve them well in the new increasingly competitive and knowledge economy.
Apply analytics to turn student data into actionable intelligence to serve and retain students and help them be successful.
