The top-ranked high school seniors on the North Shore are being honoredtonight for their academic achievements at the North Shore Chamber ofCommerce 45th annual Honor Scholars Recognition Dinner.

The dinner recognizes nearly 300 students, from 33 public and private highschools on the North Shore, all who rank in the top 5 percent of their gradu-ating class. The Chamber believes that education is the key to the futureand recognizing those that excel encourages young people to work to theirfull potential.

Tonight’s keynote speaker is Tim Collins, President, EBSCO Publishing(EP). Following dinner and the keynote address, students will be acknowl-edged individually and presented with awards by the North Shore Chamberof Commerce’s Past Chair Karen Andreas, Regional Publisher, North ofBoston Media Group. Keynote Speaker, Tim Collins, president EBSCOPublishing (EP) will also help present the awards to this year’s scholars.Each scholar will be honored by name in the presence of their parents, edu-cators, chamber members and community leaders.

The North Shore Chamber of Commerce believes recognizing those whoexcel helps to provide incentive for young people to work to their highestpotential and strive to be our leaders of tomorrow. Without achieving excel-lence in our schools, we cannot expect excellence in our work force. Thechamber welcomes the opportunity to exhibit support for excellence in edu-cation on the North Shore.

The tradition began in 1968 when the honorees were Beverly High Schoolstudents, as the chamber served only Beverly. With the growth of the NorthShore Chamber, the dinner now accommodates an audience of more than1,000 people and recognizes the top scholars from across the region.

Congratulations 2013 Honor ScholarsTim Collins is President and Founder of EBSCO Publishing (EP). In 1983, he co-founded a company that summarized articles in popular magazineswhile in college, which was later purchased by EBSCO Industries, Inc. and becameEBSCO Publishing. Tim has overseen the explosive growth that has taken EP froma niche provider of print indexes to one of the world’s most important for-fee inter-net research services, with over 100,000 institutions subscribing to its services. Thecompany now has over 1,400 employees, with over 900 in its Ipswich, MA head-quarters.As a business leader in Massachusetts, Tim was named a North Shore Chamber ofCommerce Distinguished Leader 2012. He was also named to the North Shore100, a list of the top business leaders in North Shore 100 Magazine. Collins hassupported numerous charitable causes such as the GAIN&GUS and Prep@Pingreeprograms and founded a non-profit organization to support families and children inneed in 2009. In addition, The Collins Career and Resource Center at theWhittemore School of Business at Tim’s alma mater, the University of NewHampshire, bears his name.Tim lives on the North Shore of Boston with his wife Emily and two children.
