If it detects a potential collision, a warning flashes on your windshield, an alarm sounds, the brakes are pre-charged and brake-assist sensitivity is increased. Our Lane-Keeping System1 uses a tiny camera to track the road ahead and detect if you drift toward a lane marker. It then applies torque to the steering wheel, directing you to correct your path. If you continue to drift, the steering wheel shudders, alerting you to steer back toward centre. New auto high beams1 help improve visibility by activating themselves when no automotive headlamps or tail lamps are detected in front of you. Active park assist1 not only helps you locate an appropriate parallel parking space, it actually steers Explorer into the spot. You simply follow system prompts to shift gears and control the brake and accelerator pedals. These systems may become damaged in a crash. The paired mobile phone must be connected to SYNC, and the 911 Assist feature enabled, in order for 911 to be dialed. When the feature is ON, 911 Assist uses your paired and connected mobile phone to assist occupants to contact emergency services by dialing 911 if your airbag deploys or, on certain vehicles, if the emergency fuel pump shut-off is activated.
