Fit is Everything

The saying that best describes hoof boot success is “fit, fit, fit”. We be-lieve the biggest determining factor in hoof boot success is indeed fit. That said, how do you know if a boot will fit?

1. Use the EasyCare measuring and sizing instructions to determine boot size. Do your measurements correspond to the size charts? If your measurements are similar to the size charts, your chances of a snug fit are good.

2. Before a boot is tightened the boot should be snug. You should not be able to turn or twist the boot.

3. After tightening, the boot should be a close fit around the hoof wall. Hoof boots should not have large gaps or voids between the hoof wall and the boot.

How to Measure for Boots

1. Always measure for hoof boots as soon as possible after a fresh trim. Waiting to take measurements can result in poor boot fit.

2. Measure the width of the hoof across the bottom at the widest point.

3. Measure the length of the hoof from the toe to the buttress line of the heel. The buttress line is the farthest weight bearing point of the heel where the hoof wall ends. Do not include the heel bulbs in the measurement.

4. Compare your measurements with the appropriate size chart. Please note: each boot style has its own unique size chart.

5. Ideally, the length and width measurement will fit into the same size. If the length and width measurements indicate different sizes, select the larger size. If the width and length measurements are more than one size apart, your selected boot style is not recommended.* Check your measurements against an alternative boot in the EasyCare line—another style may accommodate your horse’s hoof shape better.

Riding boots may not fit well on certain hoof types. EasyCare hoof boots are not recommended for some hoof shapes. If you horse has one of these conditions, he or she may not be a good candidate for hoof boots:

1. A hoof with excessive flair. 2. A hoof that is clubbed or irregular in shape due to injury or scarring.

If you have doubts about sizing or fit, please call us and let us help you analyze the boot size and model that will work best for you.

What can you do if your horse does not fit well in the current EasyCare hoof boot range? Have your horse’s hooves trimmed by a hoof care professional and follow their recommendations for care. Hoof shape tends to improve with regular professional trimming.

The Easyboot Glove, Glue-On and Glove Back Country horse boots are a revolutionary hoof boot design. They are lightweight, simple and fit the hoof seamlessly. They are void of hardware or fastening systems, so achieving the right fit is more important than ever. And because proper fit is so vital, these boots are available in half sizes.

There is only four millimeters of width difference between each shell size, about the width of three dimes. This tight gap between sizes helps ensure a snug fit, but it also means that there is little room for error in determining the proper size of boot.

The Fit Kit allows you to fit your horse’s feet before ordering a set of boots. Your horse gets the best fit possible without the inconvenience of buying and returning boots. Pre-fitting the shells ensures a perfect fit in the Easyboot Glove, Glue-On and Glove Back Country hoof boots.

The shell is flexible and has a great deal of stretch. Although taking hoof measurements is the right starting point for fitting any hoof boot, the Fit Kit allows you to determine exactly which size fits best.

The EasyCare Fit Kit is for the Easyboot Glove, Glue-On and Glove Back Country only. The sizing of these boots is different than other boots in the EasyCare line.

If you are interested in the Easyboot Glove, Glue-On or Glove Back Country, getting the Easyboot Fit Kit first will ensure the boots will work for you and guarantee you have the right size and fit.

The difference between Easyboot Glove, Glue-On and Glove Back Country sizes is four millimeters , roughly the width of three dimes.

The Easyboot Fit Kit - Try Before You Buy

Easyboot Glove This form-fitting, seamless boot hugs the hoof and responds like a natural hoof. Flexible and tough, the Glove has an aggressive tread pattern but still allows a free stride and breakover. Like a glove, this boot provides protection without stifling mobility.

The Easyboot Glove material stretches over the hoof and clings to the hoof wall so that debris stays out of the boot even in sandy and muddy conditions. No external hardware means that there is no need to worry about replacing cables or buckles. Also available in red and blue (limited quantities). Studs are available for winter riding.

The Glove must be carefully sized and fitted to the hoof. A Fit Kit (see page 6) is recommended to determine the proper size.

The optional Power Strap is a key accessory to the Easyboot Glove. The Power Strap is recommended for aggressive riding, hilly terrain and muddy conditions. The Power Strap tightens the fit of the Easyboot Glove and makes application slightly more difficult. Sold separately, see page 30.

Easyboot Epic (patented)

The Easyboot Epic is the ideal boot for the barefoot horse, aggressive conditions, or for a horse who is difficult to keep booted. The attached Easyboot Gaiter provides extra protection to the hoof as well as keeps excess dirt and debris from getting into the boot. It also helps keep the boot on during extreme conditions such as mud, snow, and water crossings. This is an excellent boot for long distance riding. The Easyboot Gaiter comes standard on the Easyboot Epic or can be purchased as an accessory for 2005 or later Easyboots. The Epic is fitted with an improved stronger cast buckle system and the low profile Comfort Strap.

In 1970 when Dr. Neel Glass, a nuclear physicist at the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratories, found his horse suffering from navicular disease, he began work on an idea that would prove to be a revolution in hoof care for horses. He developed the tough, durable polyurethane Easyboot. The patented boot is now used for the correction and treatment of founder, navicular disease, nail punctures, abscesses, bruises, contracted heels and impact related injuries. It provides excellent hoof protection for both occasional and long distance riding and provides more traction on rocks and pavement. Most riders use Easyboots as a shoeing alternative, protection over shoes or as a spare tire when a horse loses a shoe. Easyboot Glue-On & Glue-On Wide

The Easyboot Glue-On shell has been developed as a high performance boot and an option for horses in speed and long distance events. The light weight shell has thin walls that allow the boot to stretch and form to the hoof. The end result is a seamless one-to-one fit that resembles a second skin over the hoof. The Easyboot Glue-On is the closest hoof boot option to the barefoot horse–light weight, no hardware and a seamless fit.

In order for this boot to work properly, it must fit snugly, the foot must be dry during application and the glue-on process must be carefully followed. Complete application details are available online.

The Easyboot Glue-On is perfect for pack trips, multi-day rides, endurance events, and speed events like barrel racing.

These boots are meant to be disposable, used once or twice and then thrown away. Glue left on the inside of the boot may affect performance. We do not recommend that a boot be left on for more that ten (10) days in a dry environment or five (5) days in a humid environment. Also available in red and blue (limited quantities).

Easyboot Rx

The Easyboot Rx is just the prescription for horses requiring a therapy boot that offers stability and support without being heavy or clunky. Veterinarians, hoof care professionals and horse owners alike rely on the Easyboot Rx to help horses heal and recover quickly. It provides support and relief for horses suffering from chronic lameness, laminitis, founder, navicular and other lower limb/hoof problems. The Rx is an excellent choice for those horses that simply have difficulty standing on hard surfaces for extended periods of time. The boot can be used to speed recovery and offer protection after surgery or injury, lessen fatigue and add protection during trailering as well as offer a safeguard in the breeding shed.

The sole of the Easyboot Rx is a combination of light weight, durable and soft material, much like that used in human orthotics. All seams and edges of the upper are rounded for safety. Three air vents provide air circulation keeping the hoof cool while preventing the accumulation of dirt and debris. Each boot comes fitted with 6mm EasyCare Comfort Pad to provide immediate relief and additional sole support. Replacement comfort pads in three densities are available at a very affordable price. See page 16.

Application is quick and easy. The unique upper of the Easyboot Rx folds down and opens large enough to accommodate the wide base of a hoof, allowing for quick application without strength or force. After the hoof is placed in the Easyboot Rx, two hook and loop tabs are fastened to provide a secure fit. A quick pull on the hook and loop tabs and the Easyboot Rx is easily slipped off the hoof. Each boot has a double hook and loop lock system that prevents the boot from opening unintentionally.

These pads increase heel comfort so that all horses—sound or unsound—are encouraged to move correctly. HiTieTM Trailer Tie System

Quality and DurabilityThe HiTie™ is manufactured by a leading hitch and receiver manufacturing company. All components are made from stainless steel and will not rust. The fiberglass rod used in the HiTie™ system is also used in mooring whips designed to dock and protect boats weighing up to 72,000 pounds. The adjustable bungee tether can be adjusted to accommodate differences in trailer and horse height.

HiTie™ System includes the HiTie arm, d-ring pin & safety clip, mounting plate & hardware.Accessories sold separately, see page 33-34.

The HiTie™ was developed to provide a more comfortable and safe alternative to trailer tying and portable corrals. The HiTie™ gives horses free movement and access to an area equivalent of a 13 foot diameter round pen. This safe, controlled movement gives horses the ability to graze, eat, drink, roll and lie down while tied.

How It WorksThe HiTie™ is a flexible arm that attaches to the side of a horse trailer or building. After installation the HiTie™ provides a flexible, secure tie location 4 feet from the trailer or building. The HiTie™ provides safety and freedom in five ways:

1. The horse is now four feet from the trailer and has approximately 135 square feet of usable space.

2. The flexible fiberglass rod moves with the horse and allows additional movement when stressed.

3. The adjustable bungee tether (sold separately) allows the horse to be tied 24 inches above the ground while providing access to food and water. The bungee tether can be stretched from 5 feet to 9 feet. This important feature of the HiTie™ system keeps the tether out of the horse’s way when rolling, eating or resting.

4. The HiTie™ system is designed to eliminate rattles or noises caused by a moving horse. This is a very important feature for people using the HiTie™ system on a trailer with living quarters. The constant metal on metal rattling action of other units allows for little sleep.

5. The HiTie™ stores flat against your horse trailer while traveling. There is no need to remove the HiTie™ arm...ever. It’s as simple as removing the locking pin, rotating the arm and then replacing the pin. The new mounting bracket allows the HiTie™ arm to store left, right, up or down.

Your horse can safely and comfortably graze, or even lie down while tied.

HiTie™ FAQ’sQ: Why is the HiTie™ better?A: The HiTie™ was developed as a secure system to tie your horse while also allowing

him the comfort of being able to move more freely and lie down. Its lightweight flexible arm and bungee tether give with the horse’s movements to help create comfort and to prevent panic. With the anti-vibration/locking washer, this system is virtually silent when a horse is attached.

Q: How heavy is the HiTie™ system?A: The entire system (including bungee and runner) weighs approximately 17 lb.

Q: Can it be used on both sides of the trailer?A: Yes it can. Just keep in mind obstructions on the trailer such as ladders, toolboxes

or windows that might prevent the arm from being rotated for travel. Many of these obstructions can be avoided if you choose the vertical swing setup.

Q: Is the fiberglass arm strong enough for my horse?A: Yes. The fiberglass rod is the same material used to moor large boats up to 72,000 lb.

Q: How long is the HiTie™ arm?A: The HiTie™ arm is 48” long. Along with the bungee tether, the system allows

approximately 135 square feet for the horse to move around.

Q: Where do I take it to get installed?A: The HiTie™ is easy to install and can be done by anyone handy with a drill and a

Q: Does the arm have to be removed for travel?A: No. After rotating the arm against the trailer, make sure you tighten the anti-vibration/

locking washer securely before travel. This will prevent the arm from rattling or vibrating enough to hit your trailer.
