m “In order to be great, you need to be bad. “
This was the mantra from Harvard Business School’s Dr. Frances Frei at the annual Harvard Leadership pro-gram. Frei was denitely great as she led 50 rm execu-tives through two days of case-based lectures, debates and provocative examinations of service design mod-els, rm culture, and disruption.
Dr. Frei challenged attendees to evaluate their busi-ness models to nd underperforming services that also drain valuable resources. Described by one attendee as “a dynamic session that will change the way you look at your business,” the program also featured a dinner discussion with Ketchum CEO Rob Flaherty.

Take Flight with PR2013 marks the 15th anniversary of the Council of Public
Relations Firms, and to celebrate we have rolled out the “Take Flight With PR” campaign. To provide inspi-ration for pursuing a career in PR, the Council has de-veloped resources to educate and entice a wide array of young professionals to the industry.
With a big assist from the Agency Management Committee, the new tools and programs developed by the Council include:
New Careers Website Section: In features titled PR Champions, I Can’t Believe I Get to Do This, and PR Making a Dierence, the new careers section proles young and talented PR pros sharing their inspiring stories.
College Campus Outreach: The Council and its mem-bers are meeting with several college educators and students in 2013, facilitating a dialogue on the essential topic of talent development. This initiative kicked o at DePaul University this past April. A breakfast meeting was followed by an evening event for students where more than 150 students from several universities received career advice from local Council members. The next stops will be Washington, D.C. (September 19-20), Boston (October 3-4) and San Jose (November 5-6).
Video Contest: The “Take Flight with PR” contest drew interest from college-aged participants across the country. Two dozen students and interns submit-ted videos which addressed the prompt: “A career in PR is an opportunity for me to _____”
The 10 seminalists, after months of garnering crowd-sourced votes for their submissions, will have their videos judged by a panel of industry leaders for a chance to win a PR Leadership Prize Package. The lucky winner will attend the Council’s Annual Dinner to premiere their winning video and receive a check for $2,500.
