Dear Runners,

Welcome to the 6th running of the Cox Providence Rhode Races.

We want to take a moment to reflect on the tragic events of the Boston Marathon and offer our condolences to the victim’s families and our heartfelt wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured victims.

Many thanks to the Cities, Towns and Law Enforcement agencies involved in this race for their increased safety measures. Please know we are all working together to make this race as safe as possible and to insure a secure comfort level for all of the runners & spectators.

Please be aware that we have implemented a clear bag policy at Gear Check this year. If you’d like to check items, they must be in a plastic bag that we will provide to you. We will not accept any other form of bag and all bags will be subject to search.

We would like to thank our Sponsors for their continued support of these races and also our hundreds of volunteers who work hard behind the scenes to make this race enjoyable for the runners.

Enjoy the race & good luck!

Dear Neighbors,

On behalf of all of us at National Grid, we’d like to welcome you to the 6th Annual Cox Providence Rhode Races.

These races have always been about much more than competition -- they’re about supporting community and family and cel-ebrating hard work and dedication. And most of all, they’re about the people of this great city coming together and having fun.

That’s a spirit that rings true for the more than 842 National Grid employees here in Rhode Island. After all, we don’t just pro-vide energy to Rhode Island communities like Providence. We live here, too. So whether we’re helping Rhode Islanders lower their energy bills, or proudly sponsoring a great community event like this, we do it because this is our community as well. And we’re thrilled to be a part of it.

Of course, this event is about your energy-- the real human energy it takes to make great weekends like this one possible. So whether you are a participant or volunteer, thank you for your efforts. Enjoy the races! Sincerely,

Your neighbors at National Grid
