2013 Combined Federal CampaignCoordinator TrainingWelcome! I want to thank each of you for being here today, and for stepping up to this important challenge- the work you are about to embark upon is very important. The effort you are about to invest can mean clothing, shelter, a hot meal for a family in need; it could mean a family getting to spend their last moments with a loved one in their home, rather than a hospital. It can, & it will mean many things, to many people. What you are about to do, will change the community we live in, one ask & possibly one pledge at a time.

Over the next few months, we will collaborate closely to accomplish our goals & the mission of the CFC. I believe in making this experience one you will enjoy & be proud you participated in- one you will want to do again. Over the next hour you will be briefed on CFC, your duties as a coordinator, and how to successfully operate a campaign at your agency.

2History of the CFCIn 1961, President John F. Kennedy signed Executive Order 10927 which authorized the U.S. Civil Service Commission to develop guidelines and regulate fundraising in the Federal service.

This year we are celebrating the 52nd Anniversary of the CFC

The CFC has transformed over the past 52 years, but the art of giving has remained constant.

3www.alaskacfc.orgThe CFC is celebrating its 52nd Birthday this year! I want to share with you a fact that crosses my mind daily- it speaks volumes to the generosity of the federal employees across this great nation- it speaks to those who served before us, and it inspires us to carry forth the great example that federal employees live by. In just 52 short years, the federal employees of our country have contributed nearly 7 billion dollars to worthy charities! Let me say that again.. This message needs to be heard loud and clear. Too often our federal employees get over looked and sometimes are even given a bad wrap. Lets be honest, no one joined the federal government to get rich Yet, when the time comes to give, support, or volunteer for the CFC, federal employees dig deep, giving their time & talents to support a variety of great causes, and to educate other federal employees of the amazing benefits that come with supporting the CFC. You are the front line of a great cause, and you get to lead us into the next 52 years of giving, & 52 years of caring.
